PORTLAND (NEWS CENTER) - It took four men to wrangle the eight-foot tall, four hundred pound creature and shepard him into his new home. Although this incarnation of the legendary Sasquatch, also commonly referred to as bigfoot, is just a life size replica, the effort to move the motionless monster was Herculean.
"We moved about 40,000 books I think that first move, so that one was definitely a lot tougher," said Jeff Whitehouse, one of the hired hands helping with the move. "That took a long time. This one actually was awkward, but easier to move."
Whitehouse is among a group of guys helping Loren Coleman realize his dream - to open the world's first cryptozoology museum here in the heart of Portland.
"One of the great things about going public here is that all kinds of individuals, youth groups, tourists and other researchers from around the country, can come here on Congress Street and enjoy the fruits of 50 years of research in cryptozoology," said Coleman. "This is going to be a focal point now for the scientific establishment and sharing of information on cryptozoology."
Cryptozoology is the study of hidden animals. Loren Coleman has travel across most of the United States in his research on legendary animals like the abominable snowman and larger-than-life sea creatures like Lake Champlain's Champ. His collection was housed in his home and open to outsiders by appointment only. Now, Coleman wants the public to view his collection and learn about cryptozoology in his new museum.
"Well, there is all kinds of different ridicule and laughter and all of that, but the other part of it is that people are really interested in the nature-based, adventure-based part of cryptozoology, understanding that new species are discovered all the time," said Coleman. "I was very interested to know what was it about the yeti that made some people so skeptical and some people into true believers. I'm somewhere in between."
Coleman's goal is to open his museum November 1st in a space that he will share with a bookstore. He hopes the increased exposure will get people thinking. It already has influenced the men helping him make the move.
"Typically I am known as a bigfoot whisperer, but it is not confirmed," joked Jeff Meuse. "It is a big task, but it is definitely is helping him out." Meuse says after moving thousands of books out of storage for Coleman, the real intriguing items were next to be carted away. "Feejee Mermaid. Bigfoot prints. So much stuff, I mean, hair samples from sasquatches," he said as he listed off just some of the items he and his crew were hauling. "It would be hard pressed to say that all of the stuff that he has for the museum will fit in there."
"He definitely is an interesting character, both Bigfoot and Mr. Coleman," stated Whitehouse. "It is definitely something to consider and think about because there is a lot of space on this Earth that has been uncharted and we just don't know."

Taking I-5 down to California, I had the joy of passing Mt. Shasta; even just viewing it from the car, it was magnificant. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time to stop; it was just a sightseeing event, seeing Mt. Shasta from the interstate, and at rest stops. But that was pretty cool, even that. A trip to Mt. Shasta is definitely in my future.
I picked up some maps and did some surfing on the internet, and one thing that struck me as interesting are the caverns inside Mt. Shasta. Certainly those caverns are home to Bigfoot and all kinds of entities, as a large body of lore suggests.

Animal Planet's "Finding Bigfoot" show has done for Bigfootery what "Ghost Hunters" has done for ghost hunting. Popularized it and made people less ashamed to admit they do it. Many years ago, when I was ghost hunting, it was a shy hobby. One did not talk to others readily about what she did in her spare hours. The show "Ghost Hunters" came along and made people curious and opened their minds to the concept of looking for proof of ghosts and suddenly it was hip to be a ghost hunter.Then, groups began popping up everywhere, causing trouble at historic sites, sneaking into graveyards, scaring away hotel guests with meters and theatrics. Money was to be made in the budding field and even more people piled on until it became an industry instead of a field of study.Such is the case with "Finding Bigfoot." It has opened people's minds to the concept of these people in our forests and their obvious shy qualities. It has also made an industry out of bigfootery, with teams popping up everywhere, mimicking the Finding Bigfoot team like ghost hunters imitated TAPS.And, they perpetuated great ignorance for the subject, such as the assumption of Bigfoot being an ape or animal and having such a low level of interaction that tree knocks and hollers are the only way to communicate.I give Finding Bigfoot awesome kudos for putting together a team that is very indicative of the types we find in this field of study. Matt puts himself across as the Bigfoot businessman, Ranae as the skeptic, Bobo as the playful buddy, and Cliff as the intellectual child-like curious researcher. I am pleased to see Ranae allowed to voice her doubt and logic-based process. When others are howling with excitement over a twig snapping, Ranae is bringing them back down to earth. Cliff is educating folks on the other wildlife sharing the outdoors and running toward Bigfoot instead of away.The cast for the show is what it's all about. Their methods are rather archaic and sometimes downright humorous, and the routine is exceedingly tedious (just like Ghost Hunters), but we really watch it to see how those 4 people react to a new location and witnesses.I think we'd all agree that nighttime investigation and witness reports are the big draw on this show as far as entertainment factor. I'd like to see their attitudes about Bigfoot change to include language and intelligence instead of chest-pounding ape methods.Once we realize that Finding Bigfoot is slightly educational but mostly entertaining, we can move on to look at the characters who make up the cast and the work they are doing on their own time to better their knowledge and understanding. The value is really in the cast and putting them in new locations - RANAE HOLLAND: received her Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of Washington, where she was selected for and worked with the distinguished Alaska Salmon Program. For over a decade, Ranae has conducted fisheries research throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. Ranae continues with her efforts as a dedicated field biologist, and she regularly works for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), as well as private entities. Actually, it's two things: (A) biased and (B) closed. Too bad. Like it or not, there are far more than a few reports out there that strongly suggest Bigfoot is "not" just an unknown primate that skillfully avoids capture, shooting (etc., etc.) with a 100 percent success rate, 100 percent of the time. One person who knows this very well is Lisa Shiel.
The author of a number of Bigfoot-themed books (including "Backyard Bigfoot", for which I wrote the foreword), Lisa has a new book out right now titled "Forbidden Bigfoot: Exposing the Controversial Truth About Sasquatch, Stick Signs, UFOs, Human Origins, and the Strange Phenomena in our own Backyards". In other words, we're dealing with territory, cases and theories that most Bigfoot chasers wouldn't touch if you paid them to.
Fortunately, Lisa takes the very wise approach that if the Bigfoot mystery exhibits evidence suggesting the creatures are significantly different from what they appear to be (and they certainly do exhibit such evidence!), then the very least we can do is address the data. But Lisa does far more than her very least. She offers us her very best, which is nothing less than a first-class study of the anomalous side of Bigfoot.
And by that, we're talking about the telepathic aspect of Bigfoot, the creatures vanishing in puffs of smoke or flashes of light, the overwhelmingly elusive and "here one minute, gone the next" aspect of the puzzle, tracks that come to a sudden halt in the woods, associations between the beasts and strange aerial lights (such as "orbs"), and much more.

So show some respect - not rants, just because the words of the witnesses might not adhere to your personal "Bigfoot is an ape" theory.

CASE SUMMARY:
On May 14, 2013 at 2:41 pm,
The PA Bigfoot Society received its first email in regards to the case. The email read:
"Today in Somerset county PA a turkey hunter shot and killed an animal he claimed is a Sasquatch. The state police were called and responded to the scene, according to chatter on the local police frequencies the officers confirmed there was an unidentified animal shot and killed. Details are a bit fuzzy at this time. Any investigative assistance would be appreciated."
May 14, 2013 at 3:20 pm.
The Pa Bigfoot Society received a second email. This one had a name and contact phone number attached. The email read:
"Hello, YES this is legit, a strange report came over the scanner here in Somerset, Pa. just a few miles from Flight 93memorial. The message went to the local Police department. The report stated that a hunter had shot a Sasquatch while hunting turkey this morning. This is the first day of Spring Turkey in Pennsylvania. Later a second confirmation message on the scanner stated that yes there was a body but was unable to identify who or what it was. This all started about 10:30 AM and continued through most of the day. The location was stated as Russell or Rustic Road (too fast to be sure) here in the local area of Somerset County, Pennsylvania. Just wanted to let someone know."
Both emails were then forwarded off to PBS investigator Ron Gallucci because he is a nearby resident and closest to the area. The emails were also forwarded off to long time UFO/Bigfoot researcher Stan Gordon.
Both Stan and Ron made contact with the author of the second email.
Stan reported he contacted the email author and amateur radio (ham) operator who had made contact with the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society concerning the police radio transmission. From him Stan learned that the radio chatter in question had actually been heard by his friend who is another ham operator. Soon after, Stan talked with that man directly and learned some additional details.
The person who heard the transmission has a public safety scanner radio, better known as a police scanner, which is programmed to receive the Somerset County Public Safety radio transmissions that would include police, fire, and EMS. The radio transmission was broadcast over the scanner, and not over ham radio equipment. The man stated that he had heard a radio transmission come across a county police frequency.
The man stated he heard the Somerset County Dispatch Center contacting an area police department, but he was unsure as to what municipality it was. What he said he heard was that a hunter had called and stated that he had shot a Bigfoot. He soon heard some radio chatter from police who were reportedly joking about the report. It was about 20 minutes later that he said he heard a police officer radio back and state, "there was a body." He said the next radio transmission to the officer was, "call the center."
The witness also mentioned to Stan that soon after he heard the sound of what appeared to be a large helicopter near his house. The sound was so loud it shook his house, so he went outside to take a look. It was then that he observed a formation of four Army Apache helicopters approaching from the north and moving in the direction of Somerset. The man frequently sees such helicopters flying around that general area, but he thought the timing was interesting since the choppers were moving toward the direction of the location where the report of a Bigfoot had allegedly been shot just a short time before.
THE INVESTIGATION:
Ron is a long time resident of the area and has made multiple contacts in law enforcement and other departments due to his former career.
Ron placed calls to a trooper he knows that worked in the State Police Barracks at Somerset, and a contact he knows in the Somerset 911 call center. His contact in the Somerset barracks he knows was not available. Ron called the Somerset 911 call center and it was confirmed there was a call to the center but it did not involve a Bigfoot being shot. It was in regard to a gentleman that discovered large human like tracks, and that he believed were Bigfoot prints.
Ron then was informed of the municipal police department that investigated. Being that Ron has contacts at the Paint Township Police Station, Ron called and spoke to the Police Chief about the incident. It was at that time, informed him of the situation and invited him to meet in the office on 5-16-2013, to discuss the case and findings. The Chief also told Ron they had photos of what they believed were bear prints. No discussion or mention of a Turkey Hunter shooting a Bigfoot was discussed at that time.
May 14, 2013:
Thanks to another PBS member, Eric was given the address to a website called Broadcastify. This website houses archived EMS, Fire, and Police transmissions. The website had the archive for Tuesday March 14, 2013. Eric listened to the files and found that there was a call dispatched out of the Somerset 911 call center to a local municipality police force to investigate. Eric has been able to download the file. This is available upon request.
The transcription from the recording is as follows:
Begin Transmission: "Dispatcher: Did you have a Mr. ###### at ## Spruce Street?" Police officer: "Negative." Dispatcher: "He called the 911 call center advising he called the state game commission and no one has returned his calls and he is requesting an officer to his house as he has proof of Bigfoot." Police Officer: "Bigfoot, Right?" Dispatcher: "Affirmative, he wants an officer to come to his residence. Apparently he has proof of Bigfoot." Police Officer: reply was unintelligible.

Contact was made with the Game commission, and it was Stan's understanding that the Pennsylvania Game Commission in that area had no knowledge of the incident and was not involved in any investigation dealing with this matter on May 14, 2013
In the evening, newspaper accounts were posted on line that a Turkey Hunter shot another person on April 30, 2013 in Somerset Township, Wisconsin. Some are speculating that this is the source of the rumor. It does not account for the witness who claims he heard the scanner report of a Bigfoot shot and confirmed by police on Tuesday May 14, 2013 at approximately 10:30 am. We are unable to determine if this plays a role in the case or not.
May 16, 2013
Eric Altman called the Somerset State Police Barracks on Thursday morning. Eric spoke with the daylight dispatcher. When asked about any involvement of the Somerset State Police in regards to the claim, the daylight dispatcher stated she was not aware of any. She also stated she was working that day and did not talk to anyone filing any type of claim or statement about Bigfoot to the barracks.
The Dispatcher then told Eric she would check into it further and call him back. Twenty minutes later the dispatcher called and stated the Somerset State Police did not receive any calls or information about it, nor went to investigate any shooting. The dispatcher stated she did find out there was a call into the 911 Call Center on Tuesday May 14, 2013 and Paint Township Police were dispatched on an Animal Complaint issue of an individual claiming to find large Bigfoot tracks in the forest. Police responded, took photos and determined the prints to be Bear prints. Two sets of tracks were found. A large set and a smaller set. The tracks were identified as bear tracks.
May 16, 2013.
Ron Gallucci met with Chief of police and met with him today verifying this did indeed happen. He met with him, found out an elderly gentleman filed an animal complaint of "proof of Bigfoot." An officer responded and confirmed they were 2 sets of tracks. A large and small set of tracks which suggested a Mama bear and cub. Photos were taken and Ron has a copy of the photos, police report and I have a copy of the 911 transmission of the call requesting an officer that took place at 11:30 am on Tuesday May 14.
Ron also checked the claim about the low flying military helicopters. It was found out that there were no military helicopters sent to collect a body. However there are always low flying helicopters in formation and they do fly over that area multiple times a week due to the municipal airport being close by.
Stan also added he is aware that the Pennsylvania Army National Guard operates Apache helicopters out of the nearby John Murtha-Johnstown-Cambria County Airport and commonly conduct training missions around that area.
IN CONCLUSION:
We cannot determine what was heard nor find evidence to confirm what the Ham Operator witness heard on his police scanner on May 14, 2013 at approximately 10:30 am. Stan, Ron and Eric were able rule out the claim of a Bigfoot being shot and killed by a turkey hunter and confirmed by police.
We have confirmation from the Somerset State Police, Somerset 911 call center, Paint Township Police department and the Pennsylvania Game Commission that to their knowledge, there has been no Bigfoot reportedly killed, no body confirmed nor recovered.
We have the 911 call center audio file of the dispatched track discovery call, a copy of the police report from the Paint Township police department and photographs of the bear prints.

With all of the police scanners in the area you would think that others would have heard the report of a Bigfoot being shot and there being a body. Surely this would have drawn much interest from local people making inquiries as well as the news media. That hasn't happened, however the man who says he heard the broadcast seems certain as to what he believes he heard.
The 911 communication tapes confirm that there was radio traffic about possible Bigfoot evidence being found in the area, however nothing about a shooting or body of a Bigfoot has been located on the recordings.
I am very familiar with emergency radio communications and the chatter of such scanner radios. On occasion there can be some distortions in such radio transmissions making it difficult to understand what was being said. Also I have found myself at times only partially concentrating on what is coming over the scanner radio while being occupied with other matters. It is a possibility that fellow could have mistakenly heard certain details about the Bigfoot activity in the area that day.

In the old days, there were a handful of 1970s documentaries about Bigfoot, perhaps a few more in the 80s and 90s. It seems the past 10-15 years, the documentaries took hold and now we have a huge variety to choose from. I admit that my idea of a perfect rainy Sunday is to put on Bigfoot documentaries back to back all day long. Of course, living in the desert, a rainy day lands on a Sunday about 2 days a year, so sometimes I have to fudge it and close the blinds and turn down the air-conditioner.
I found some new ones I'm reviewing for y'all. They come from Grendel Films.
The first one was Spotlight on the Patterson Gimlin Film. Regular readers might know about the post I did about MK Davis. Since opening a conversation with him and getting to know his work and how he goes about it, I have a serious nerd admiration for this video expert. I have only a handful of folks in the BF world I trust and MK is one of the top two. Being able to see a documentary showing how he went about being the first to stabilize the Patterson-Gimlin film just blew my mind away. He is a very well spoken and well thought out man. No ego. No agendas. Just wants the best detail he can obtain so folks can look at the film and take everything in and have the best quality to make their own personal judgements by. This is one of my favorites in my collection now.
Next up, were two films: "Keeping the Watch" and "Keeping the Watch Volume 2." If you like to listen to the witness accounts on "Finding Bigfoot" and other shows, you will enjoy these two. There are some quite credible and also very detailed accounts by a wide variety of witnesses. It's compelling to sit and dive into their story and imagine yourself in their scenarios.
I already greatly enjoyed Hunt for the Dogman also out by Grendel Films. It's nice to see a documentary filmmaker pumping out plenty of cryptid material for us paranormal geeks who want to get our creature fixation satisfied. That dogman documentary was very good and he accounts were positively chilling.
All in all, I can't complain having found 4 new DVDs to add to my collection and be pleased to rerun on those slow Sundays.

Predictably the critics have started their tired worn out drone about the "Matilda" Bigfoot footage being a person in a Star Wars "Wookie" costume. I will admit at first glance one might jump to that conclusion, but upon closer inspection of the footage I find this highly unlikely.
I have been researching Bigfoot since 2009 and one thing I have learned, is just like people, the Bigfoot come in all shapes in sizes. There are many that look surprising human while others are completely hair covered and have a more "monster" like appearance. I have captured footage of two Bigfoot, one in the National Park and one from the public land research area. Both are completely hair covered and have a similar look. So to say Bigfoot just do not look like Matilda therefor it must be a hoax is not a intellectually honest conclusion.
Taking a closer look at the footage I noticed the following that leave me to think the footage is legitimate.
The gums of the Bigfoot are black, the skin in the mouth is black, the lips are black. Also note the wide straight tongue compared to a humans.
The bottom jaw juts out way to far for a human, this would be difficult if not impossible for a person in a mask to duplicate.

This morning a group of Sasquatch researchers have announced their findings after a five year study into the phenomenon of Bigfoot.
New photos and videos filled with never before seen images were released Tuesday by a group known as the Sasquatch Genome Project. They were in Dallas Tuesday to unveil its findings.
Dr. Melba Ketchum, a genetics scientist led the project. "We want people to understand this is a serious study," said Ketchum.
The five-year study costs more than 500,000. It was funded by businessman Adrian Erickson.
Erikson says he has had numerous encounters with Sasquatch creatures-and says he has the images and science to back their existence. But he says he also understands the stigma and disbelief that comes with BigFoot.
"People have chosen not to believe it. They can't find it in their minds to think these things exist."
So the group of researchers and scientists set out to track what they call the furry people.
The group says it followed a mother and daughter in Kentucky collecting thermal imagery, daytime and nighttime video, along with, photos of massive hand and footprints.
The group says there are thousands of these creatures in the United States including right here in North Texas.

WHAT MADE YOU DECIDE TO PURSUE THE BISHOPVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA LIZARDMAN FOR YOUR 2ND BOOK ENTITLED LIZARD MAN: THE TRUE STORY OF THE BISHOPVILLE MONSTER?I was doing research on monster sightings that have occurred in various swamps locations around the southeast U.S. In the process I actually visited swamps in several different states, including Scape Ore Swamp near Bishopville, South Carolina. As I interviewed people in the area, including law officials and witnesses, I realized there was much more to the story of the Bishopville Lizard Man than had ever been made public. It seemed like a great story, so I ended up developing it into a book.2. COULD YOU SHARE SOME OF THE ODD GOING ONS REGARDING LIZARDMAN FESTIVITIES IN BISHOPVILLE?At this point the Lizard Man is sort of a cultural icon that many people in the area recognize. There's a few restaurants that incorporate the Lizard Man into their identity and there's a display at the Cotton Museum in Bishopville. Bishopville also has a Cotton Festival each year and their mascot is the "Lizard Man." It's kind of a fun thing now, but when it started, there were some incredible and downright spooky sightings of the creature.3. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE LIZARDMAN IS EXACTLY WHEN IT COMES TO CRYPTOZOOLOGY CLASSIFICATIONS?It's one of those creatures that falls in a gray area. The biological possibility of a hybrid between human and reptile is very improbable, so that's one reason researchers have had a hard time trying to figure out just what it is people might have seen. In a cryptozoological sense, it might be more logical to conclude that it was a sasquatch covered in algae, or had patchy hair or mud that made its skin appear scaly. In a paranormal sense, some researchers have proposed that the creature could be part of a race of underground reptilians or something much more otherworldly. As far as my book is concerned, I just present the facts of the story as I know them and let people decide what the creature may or may not be. One of the best pieces of evidence for the existence of the Lizardman. An auto reportedly attacked by the mysterious creature. 4. WHAT DID THE POLICE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE INCIDENTS?This is one of those rare cryptozoology cases in which law officials took the sightings seriously. The Lee County Sheriff's Office - in particular Sheriff Liston Truesdale - felt that many of the witnesses legitimately saw something unexplainable. During the bulk of the sightings in 1988, he investigated all aspects of the case and interviewed as many of the witnesses as possible. He realized that the notion of a "lizard man" was fantastic, but since the thing apparently attacked a young man one evening near Scape Ore Swamp, the sheriff felt he better follow up. If it turned out to be nothing, then fine. But if it turned out to be something dangerous - even if that was a bear or some other normal animal - then he didn't want to risk somebody getting killed and his department not having done something to prevent it. When I was in Bishopville I had the opportunity to visit with Truesdale for several days and look through his archive of police documents regarding the case.5. IF THE BEAST OF BOGGY CREEK GOT IN A WRESTLING MATCH WITH LIZARDMAN? WHO WOULD YOU ROOT FOR AND WHY?I suppose I'd have to root for the Boggy Creek Monster since that would be more of my home team, so to speak.6. COULD YOU GO INTO WHY YOU CONSIDERED THE LIZARDMAN TO BE A HAIRLESS BIGFOOT?The bigfoot theory came up when I reviewed the witnesses' testimony. Several of the witnesses flat out compared the creature to a sasquatch. They said it was brown in color and definitely had hair. One witness I interviewed said it walked like an ape. The debate about the creature having hair, or not, comes into play when trying to explain why some of the other witnesses described it as having more reptilian features. This is hard to reconcile, so perhaps not all witnesses saw the same creature. Maybe some saw a typical bigfoot, some saw a bigfoot with a skin condition, or maybe there were two different creatures being seen. It's one of the fascinating aspects of the case when you start really paying close attention to what the eyewitnesses were saying. It's hard to elaborate here, but of course my book covers all these theories in detail so that we can try to sort out just what was going on down there in Bishopville.7. WOULD YOU GO INTO THE CASE WHERE THE LIZARDMAN SUPPOSEDLY DID DAMAGE TO A CAR?There were three instances in which cars in near Scape Ore Swamp were damaged during the night by what appeared to be a large animal. Part of the cars were literally torn off or otherwise scratched up. The owners found claw marks, teeth mark, hair and footprints near the vehicles which suggested that it was an animal, not just human vandals. The first incident occurred in July of 1988, which actually launched the whole Lizard Man investigation. The two other incidents occurred later; one in 2008 and one in 2011. There's no direct evidence that connects the car damage to sightings of the Lizard Man, but it's certainly strange that these bizarre incidents occurred in the same area.8. WHAT STRANGE REPTILIAN THEORIES DID YOU COME ACROSS WHILE ON THIS SOJOURN OF REPTILIAN PROPORTIONS?It pretty much boils down to three main theories that have been proposed. The first is that it's an unknown cryptid. That could be a reptilian or dinosaur type animal that can walk on two legs, or perhaps a bigfoot with a skin condition or covered in mud. The next is that the creature is part of a race of reptoids which live in subterranean caverns deep in the earth. The third is that it's some sort of extraterrestrial creature that's just passing through or that has taken up residence on earth at some point in the past. I approached the case as if it's one of cryptozoology, but I also cover the other various theories that have been proposed since in reality nobody really knows anything for sure without more solid evidence.9.THIS IS A WILDCARD QUESTION. WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SHARE FROM THE BOOK WITH US THAT OUR READERS MIGHT FIND BENEFICIAL?During my research, I discovered that there were stories of scaly humanoid type creatures living in the South Carolina area that preceded the Lizard Man encounters of 1988. 500 years ago, Native Americans in the area told of a race of strange men that had scaly skin and hard, rigid tails. They apparently came from the sea and ate a diet of only fish. It's hard to say whether these people actually existed, but it's certainly spooky to think that the tribes reported something like this. The original Lizard Man witnesses would have had absolutely no knowledge of these prior legends.10. ANY CLUE ON WHAT CREATURE YOU'RE TACKLING FOR A POSSIBLE THIRD BOOK? ANY LINKS OR EVENTS YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE?I'm gathering information for my next book already. SIERRA KILLS RECOVERY SCENE WAS VIDEOTAPED!I can now report in breaking news that Smeja and the driver actually videotaped the recovery of what must look like a small piece of flesh from the scene of the Sierra Kills. They were instructed to do this by Wally Hersom. Wally also showed them how to do professional evidence collection. The sample was collected in such a way that neither man handled the sample. The tape shows them finding and collecting the sample and t"here is closeup footage of the Bigfoot steak itself".This videotape will apparently be released at an appropriate time. It will probably show a small piece of around 2 pounds in weight. I realize that that does not go along with my view of the Sierra Kills recovery as retaining 16 pounds, but I am still sticking to my story. There may have been more than one recovery attempt.TWO POUNDS OR 16 POUNDS OF BIGFOOT RECOVERED FROM THE SIERRA KILLS?Bart Cutino did mention something that we have reported, but he did not name us. He said reports that Justin Smeja and the driver recovered 15 pounds of Bigfoot from the scene are what he called "ridiculous." This is the typical view, and Smeja himself says they recovered 2 pounds.However, I stand by my original claim and now think it was 15-16 pounds. How strongly do I believe this? Let's put it this way. "I know for a fact that they recovered 16 pounds off one or the other or both of the dead Bigfoots, ok?" How's that for being sure? I don't like to discuss this much because Justin and I disagree on this. Justin and I have agreed to disagree on this, and we don't bring it up or talk about it. I am not sure if the real story on body recovery will ever come out. People may be investigating this incident for years to come.KETCHUM DNA STUDY A GIGANTIC HOAX?This view is being tossed around a lot by people who are hostile to the study, including many people aligned with Meldrum, though apparently not by Meldrum himself. It also involves many from the BFRO. I think it goes deeper than the Ape vs. Human debate, but I don't understand what the motivation for tearing her down is.The allegation is that she is preparing a gigantic hoax on the scientific community. This would be a case of scientific fraud, and it would not be taken lightly. She would probably never be able to publish in a journal again. I would say her career as a scientist would be through, but there are people accused of scientific fraud who still practice medicine. For one, Hersom would probably sue her for a ton of money to get his money back.I simply do not believe that Ketchum would risk it all on a gigantic hoax and scientific fraud. I also don't believe she's that kind of a person. I know people who worked with her, and they told me she has a good scientific mind and uses the scientific method well. She's not the type to engage in hoaxing or scientific fraud. I concur.ABOUT DR. JEFF MELDRUM. I don't have much opinion of the guy one way or the other, except he tried to start a fight with me over the Net and acted very badly when he did that. But there's always time to make up.It is true that he's made quite a few enemies in this community, and they have built up a dossier against him. I'm not saying that view is accurate or not - I just put it out there for others to see one side to the man. I also feel that he has a strong good side though.I don't have much opinion on his books or research other than to say I think he's done a great service to the community, and he's a very brave man for sticking his neck out like this. He's treated as an outcast at his own university and in the scientific community at large. There have been efforts underway to have his tenure revoked.He could have been cowardly, changed his mind and said these things don't exist, but he didn't do that. Meldrum has balls of steel.I would also like to say that it was not just the BFRO that got me back into Bigfoot.Recently I read one of Meldrum's papers about Bigfoot foot morphology on the web. I thought, "Here's a real scientist, and he thinks these things may well exist! Wow!" At the time I had drifted towards a more skeptical position. Later on after the Knobby hoax out of Virginia, I went to the BFRO site, and that's when I dove in totally. I have OCD, and one thing it does that is good is that when I get into something, I go whole hog, dive into it all the way, learn everything there is to know about it, and soon I'm more or less of an expert.So bottom line is if you like my Bigfoot reporting, you can thank Meldrum and the BFRO for getting me into this in the first place.[ Via Robert Lindsay Blog ] TCC - Thanks to Robert for sharing some of his latest info and thoughts. This show, staged at an Ohio meeting house filled with enthusiasts, recaps the "season" and shows previously unseen footage. The audience also gets to ask questions -- some of which reveal that the crew is less positive of some "bigfoot" identifications than the show makes them out to be. However, the crew is still divided between believers (Matt, Cliff, Bobo) and skeptic (Ranae). The audience also seems skeptical -- which is refreshing -- and asks "How do you know...?" type questions. (Though the answers tend to be "because we know" or "because of our experience" rather than hard evidence.)
Still, team members on both sides get to state their positions clearly without a lot of edits, which is nice. And the show serves as a good recap and/or introduction to the show. Havent seen "Finding Bigfoot "before? This might be a good place to start.

Then they noticed it was covered in long, dark hair.She said it was walking upright along the side of a hill, and was taking long strides. They said it would also sometimes crawl."We weren't sure what it was first. It is not a human being, it was really tall, and kept coming towards our direction and we could tell it was not a human," she said.Qingalik said the creature was 10 feet tall. Pictures posted on Facebook show the alleged footprints are 40 centimetres long.The women said the creature didn't appear vicious, nor did it appear interested in them.Understandably for such a sighting, the women got scared, hopped on their ATV, and headed back to the community to warn people about what they saw.EXPERT SAYS SIGHTINGS NOT RARE IN CANADALoren Coleman, the director of the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine, has been studying sasquatch and Bigfoot sightings in North America for more than 50 years."It sounds like a traditional kind of sighting. I think the only thing I would wonder about would be the height of 10 feet with a footprint as large as you said. But that happens people exaggerate," he said.Coleman said Bigfoot or sasquatch tend to be six and a half to eight feet tall. He said they have been spotted throughout the U.S. and Canada since the 1800s.Since the region has become more populated, Coleman said the sightings have been relegated to the wilderness.He said he hopes someone took measurements and some good photographs of this most recent sighting."If someone could go back there and take some plaster casts, that might be quite helpful in terms of comparing it to the database of other footprints in Canada," he said.In Nunavik or Nunavut, Coleman suggests sasquatch may hole up in caves to protect themselves from the elements.He added they may sustain themselves on a diet similar to caribou. However, he said the omnivores are opportunistic and could eat a range of food including salmon or road kill.Coleman said he is skeptical when he investigates these sightings.
