This is the second time Planet Hunters project, which is overseen by Zooniverse, has confirmed a new exoplanet discovery. What's more, several candidate planets found by the project may be in the habitable zones of their parent stars. These candidates are awaiting confirmation by professional astronomers.
Researchers suggested this bonanza of planets in the so-called Goldilocks zone around a star, a habitable zone
in which conditions are liquid water to exist on a planet's surface and
potentially supportlife, could mean there is a "traffic jam" of worlds where life could exist, project officials said.
"These are planet candidates
that slipped through the net, being missed by professional astronomers and rescued by volunteers in front of their web browsers," said the University of Oxford's Chris Lintott, who helms the Zooniverse, in a statement. "It's remarkable to think that absolutely anyone can discover
a planet."
LIFE ON AN 'AVATAR'-LIKE MOON
The planet PH2 b was found using data from NASA's prolific Kepler Space Telescope and confirmed with 99.9 percent confidence by observations at the W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii.

If a theoretical moon were to host life, it would likely have a rocky core, plus a greenhouse atmosphere of some sort that could have liquid water on its surface, the researchers said.
"It's very similar to what was depicted in the movie 'Avatar' - the habitable moon Pandora around a giant planet, Polyphemus," Wang added.

"These detections nearly double the number of gas giant planet
candidates orbiting at habitable zone distances," the paper stated.
Planet Hunters includes participation from Oxford, Yale and several other institutions. Volunteers pour over data from Kepler. Once the strongest candidates are identified, professional astronomers take a look at them.
Planet Hunters has found 48 candidate planets so far. The first confirmed planet, PH1, was revealed in October 2011.

The new super-Earth planet exists in the habitable zone of a nearby star and is part of a six-planet system. The system was previously thought to contain three planets in orbits too close to the star to support liquid water. By avoiding fake signals caused by stellar activity, the researchers have identified three new super-Earth planet candidates also in orbit.
Mikko Tuomi said: "We pioneered new data analysis techniques including the use of the wavelength as a filter to reduce the influence of activity on the signal from this star. This significantly increased our sensitivity and enabled us to reveal three new super-Earth planets around the star known as HD 40307, making it into a six-planet system."
Of the new planets, the one of greatest interest is the one with the outermost orbit from the star -- with a mass at least seven times of the Earth. Its orbit around the host star is at a similar distance to Earth's orbit around our Sun, so it receives a similar amount of energy from the star as the Earth receives from the Sun -- increasing the probability of it being habitable. This is where the presence of liquid water and stable atmospheres to support life is possible and, more importantly, the planet is likely to be rotating on its own axis as it orbits around the star creating a daytime and night-time effect on the planet which would be better at creating an Earth-like environment.
Guillem Angla-Escude said: "The star HD 40307, is a perfectly quiet old dwarf star, so there is no reason why such a planet could not sustain an Earth-like climate."
Hugh Jones, University of Hertfordshire, added: "The longer orbit of the new planet means that its climate and atmosphere may be just right to support life. Just as Goldilocks liked her porridge to be neither too hot nor too cold but just right, this planet or indeed any moons that it has lie in an orbit comparable to Earth, increasing the probability of it being habitable."
Earlier this year, the Kepler spacecraft found a planet with a similar orbit. However, Kepler 22d is located 600 light years from Earth, whereas this new super-Earth planet known as HD 40307g is much closer being located at 42 light years from Earth.
Mikko Tuomi carried out this work as a member of the European science network RoPACS (Rocky Planets Around Cool Stars) -- an initiative with a research focus on the search for planets around cool stars. RoPACS has pan-European membership and is led from the University of Hertfordshire by David Pinfield, who commented: "Discoveries like this are really exciting, and such systems will be natural targets for the next generation of large telescopes, both on the ground and in space."

Esa amalgama parece presentar diferentes cambios de densidad y coloraci'on. Tambi'en destaca el hecho de que el objeto parece emitir luz propia, es decir, no est'a reflejando la luz del sol. Esto se comprueba con la marca 'optica que deja el reflejo del mismo en el movimiento vertical de la c'amara.
4. Hay otros momentos en donde los n'ucleos del objeto parecen unirse creando diferentes reflejos en la aureola sobre todo en la parte inferior.
5. Esto dura, como dec'iamos, apenas una d'ecima de segundo ya que se vuelve a cambiar la estructura y la forma y aparecen cuatro n'ucleos formando un rombo irregular sobre la amalgama energ'etica.
6. Destacando esta actividad en globos, rayos en bola, o avistamientos de planetas o estrellas resulta curia la manera de comportarse de estos n'ucleos. En este fotograma por ejemplo, todos ellos aparecen con una disposici'on achatada y formando una estructura sim'etrica y alargada.
