Nasas Way Cool Retro Posters For Futuristic Space Travel

Nasas Way Cool Retro Posters For Futuristic Space Travel

Making future travel plans.. with an emphasis on 'future?' Check out these exoplanet travel posters from NASA.

In late December, 2014, the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory's (fictional) "Exoplanet Travel Bureau" released these 1930s-style travel posters depicting three exoplanets as destinations - hypothetical, so far - for future travel. These worlds orbiting stars besides our sun exist, alright, but all are vastly too far away to travel to in the course of a single human lifespan, with existing technology. But someday, maybe. Which one would you choose for a visit?

DESTINATION #1: KEPLER-16B, located 200 light-years from Earth in the direction of the constellation Cygnus. Like Luke Skywalker's planet "Tatooine" in Star Wars, Kepler-16b orbits not one but two stars. It's the first confirmed, unambiguous example of a planet orbiting a double sun. Although it's depicted here as a terrestrial planet, Kepler-16b might also be a gas giant like Saturn.

Down side: It has a temperature similar to that of dry ice (-109.3^0F or -78.5^0C). Be sure to bring along a jacket!

Up side: Double sunsets.

DESTINATION #2: KEPLER-186F, located 490 light-years away in the direction of the constellation Cygnus. Kepler-186f is the first Earth-size planet discovered in its star's habitable zone - aka the Goldilocks zone. That is the zone of possible orbits around another stars in which liquid water could exist on the planet's surface.

But don't take that to mean that stars in the habitable zone would be similar to Earth.

For example, Kepler-186f's star is much cooler and redder than our sun. If plant life does exist on a planet like Kepler-186f, its photosynthesis could have been influenced by the star's red-wavelength photons, making for a color palette that's very different than the greens on Earth.

DESTINATION #3: HD 40307G, located 42 light-years away in the direction of the southern constellation Pictor. Is this world a "super-Earth" or a "mini-Neptune"? Scientists aren't sure whether it has a rocky surface or a surface buried under thick layers of gas and ice. One thing is certain though, says NASA, at eight time Earth's mass, the gravitational pull of HD 40307g is much, much stronger than what we experience on the surface of our home world. Skydiving, anyone?

NASA JPL Visual Strategists Joby Harris, David Delgado and Dan Goods created these posters.

Bottom line: Exoplanet travel posters from NASA.

Nasa Comments On Ceres And Asteroid Bl86 Ufos

Nasa Comments On Ceres And Asteroid Bl86 Ufos
When NASA actually makes a comment about a UFO, even if it's just to deny it and give its own explanation, it's big news. When NASA makes two comments about UFOs in one week, it's even bigger news. When NASA admits it doesn't know what one of these unidentified objects is, it's time to sit up, pay attention and see what's going on.

The first image of Asteroid BL86 and the object orbiting it

The first UFO is the object orbiting the one-third-mile-wide asteroid BL86 which came close to Earth (745,000 miles away - three times the distance of Earth to the moon) on January 26. Everyone, including NASA, was surprised to see something in orbit around the asteroid. Measuring only 230 feet in diameter, the object appears to be diamond-shaped and, in the first videos released, was stationary rather than spinning. NASA called it a moon but, when that was questioned by many, it issued a second video from a different angle and another explanation:

In the near-Earth population, about 16% of asteroids that are about 655 feet or larger are a binary (the primary asteroid with a smaller asteroid moon orbiting it) or even triple systems (two moons).

Convinced? While that controversy raged on, a second one popped up. Images taken by the Dawn spacecraft of the dwarf planet Ceres released on January 19 show a large, flickering white spot on the surface. (image above) What could it be? Mission director and chief engineer Marc Rayman gave this unusual statement:

Yes, we can confirm that it is something on Ceres that reflects more sunlight, but what that is remains a mystery. We do not know what the white spot is, but it's certainly intriguing. In fact, it makes you want to send a spacecraft there to find out, and of course that is exactly what we are doing! So as Dawn brings Ceres into sharper focus, we will be able to see with exquisite detail what [the white spot] is.

Gee, I wonder what NASA will say if it's a spaceship?

In the meantime, two statements in a week from NASA on UFOs means someone is listening. While we have their attention, what do you think the objects are?

Nasa Probe Gets Close Views Of Large Saturn Hurricane

Nasa Probe Gets Close Views Of Large Saturn Hurricane
NASA's Cassini spacecraft has provided scientists the first close-up, visible-light views of a behemoth hurricane swirling around Saturn's north pole.

"

The spinning vortex of Saturn's north polar storm resembles a deep red rose of giant proportions surrounded by green foliage in this false-color image from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. Measurements have sized the eye at a staggering 1,250 miles (2,000 kilometers) across with cloud speeds as fast as 330 miles per hour (150 meters per second). This image is among the first sunlit views of Saturn's north pole captured by Cassini's imaging cameras. When the spacecraft arrived in the Saturnian system in 2004, it was northern winter and the north pole was in darkness. Saturn's north pole was last imaged under sunlight by NASA's Voyager 2 in 1981; however, the observation geometry did not allow for detailed views of the poles. Consequently, it is not known how long this newly discovered north-polar hurricane has been active. The images were taken with the Cassini spacecraft narrow-angle camera on Nov. 27, 2012, using a combination of spectral filters sensitive to wavelengths of near-infrared light. The images filtered at 890 nanometers are projected as blue. The images filtered at 728 nanometers are projected as green, and images filtered at 752 nanometers are projected as red. In this scheme, red indicates low clouds and green indicates high ones. The view was acquired at a distance of approximately 261,000 miles (419,000 kilometers) from Saturn and at a sun-Saturn-spacecraft, or phase, angle of 94 degrees. Image scale is 1 mile (2 kilometers) per pixel. The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages the mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington, D.C. The Cassini orbiter and its two onboard cameras were designed, developed and assembled at JPL. The imaging operations center is based at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colo. [Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SSI]"

In high-resolution pictures and video, scientists see the hurricane's eye is about 1,250 miles (2,000 kilometers) wide, 20 times larger than the average hurricane eye on Earth. Thin, bright clouds at the outer edge of the hurricane are traveling 330 mph(150 meters per second). The hurricane swirls inside a large, mysterious, six-sided weather pattern known as the hexagon.

"We did a double take when we saw this vortex because it looks so much like a hurricane on Earth," said Andrew Ingersoll, a Cassini imaging team member at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. "But there it is at Saturn, on a much larger scale, and it is somehow getting by on the small amounts of water vapor in Saturn's hydrogen atmosphere."

Scientists will be studying the hurricane to gain insight into hurricanes on Earth, which feed off warm ocean water. Although there is no body of water close to these clouds high in Saturn's atmosphere, learning how these Saturnian storms use water vapor could tell scientists more about how terrestrial hurricanes are generated and sustained.

"

This spectacular, vertigo inducing, false-color image from NASA's Cassini mission highlights the storms at Saturn's north pole. The angry eye of a hurricane-like storm appears dark red while the fast-moving hexagonal jet stream framing it is a yellowish green. Low-lying clouds circling inside the hexagonal feature appear as muted orange color. A second, smaller vortex pops out in teal at the lower right of the image. The rings of Saturn appear in vivid blue at the top right. The images were taken with Cassini's wide-angle camera using a combination of spectral filters sensitive to wavelengths of near-infrared light. The images filtered at 890 nanometers are projected as blue. The images filtered at 728 nanometers are projected as green, and images filtered at 752 nanometers are projected as red. At Saturn, this scheme means colors correlate to different altitudes in the planet's polar atmosphere: red indicates deep, while green shows clouds that are higher in altitude. High clouds are typically associated with locations of intense upwelling in a storm. These images help scientists learn the distribution and frequencies of such storms. The rings are bright blue in this color scheme because there is no methane gas between the ring particles and the camera. The view was acquired at a distance of approximately 261,000 miles (419,000 kilometers) from Saturn and at a sun-Saturn-spacecraft, or phase, angle of 94 degrees. Image scale is 13 miles (22 kilometers) per pixel [Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/SSI]"

Both a terrestrial hurricane and Saturn's north polar vortex have a central eye with no clouds or very low clouds. Other similar features include high clouds forming an eye wall, other high clouds spiraling around the eye, and a counter-clockwise spin in the northern hemisphere.

A major difference between the hurricanes is that the one on Saturn is much bigger than its counterparts on Earth and spins surprisingly fast. At Saturn, the wind in the eye wall blows more than four times faster than hurricane-force winds on Earth. Unlike terrestrial hurricanes, which tend to move, the Saturnian hurricane is locked onto the planet's north pole. On Earth, hurricanes tend to drift northward because of the forces acting on the fast swirls of wind as the planet rotates. The one on Saturn does not drift and is already as far north as it can be.

"The polar hurricane has nowhere else to go, and that's likely why it's stuck at the pole," said Kunio Sayanagi, a Cassini imaging team associate at Hampton University in Hampton, Va.

Scientists believe the massive storm has been churning for years. When Cassini arrived in the Saturn system in 2004, Saturn's north pole was dark because the planet was in the middle of its north polar winter. During that time, the Cassini spacecraft's composite infrared spectrometer and visual and infrared mapping spectrometer detected a great vortex, but a visible-light view had to wait for the passing of the equinox in August 2009. Only then did sunlight begin flooding Saturn's northern hemisphere. The view required a change in the angle of Cassini's orbits around Saturn so the spacecraft could see the poles.

"Such a stunning and mesmerizing view of the hurricane-like storm at the north pole is only possible because Cassini is on a sportier course, with orbits tilted to loop the spacecraft above and below Saturn's equatorial plane," said Scott Edgington, Cassini deputy project scientist at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. "You cannot see the polar regions very well from an equatorial orbit. Observing the planet from different vantage points reveals more about the cloud layers that cover the entirety of the planet."

Cassini changes its orbital inclination for such an observing campaign only once every few years. Because the spacecraft uses flybys of Saturn's moon Titan to change the angle of its orbit, the inclined trajectories require attentive oversight from navigators. The path requires careful planning years in advance and sticking very precisely to the planned itinerary to ensure enough propellant is available for the spacecraft to reach future planned orbits and encounters.

The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. JPL, a division of the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, manages the Cassini-Huygens mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate in Washington. The Cassini orbiter and its two onboard cameras were designed, developed and assembled at JPL. The imaging team consists of scientists from the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. The imaging operations center is based at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colo.

Imagining Extrasolar Planets

Imagining Extrasolar Planets
From the Spitzer Science Center. While astronomers have identified over 500 planets around other stars, they're all too small and distant to fill even a single pixel in our most powerful telescopes. That's why science must rely on art to help us imagine these strange new worlds. From Spitzer Space Telescope.

Even without pictures of these exoplanets, astronomers have learned many things that can be illustrated in artwork. For instance, measurements of the temperatures of many "Hot Jupiters," massive worlds orbiting very close to their stars, hint that their atmospheres may be as dark as soot, glowing only from their own heat.

While "Hot Jupiters" would be relatively dark in visible light, compared to their stars, their brightness is proportionally much greater in the infrared. Illustrating this dramatic contrast change helps explain why the infrared eye of NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope plays a key role in studying exoplanets.

As our understanding evolves, so must the artwork. Astronomers found a blazing hot spot on the exoplanet Upsilon Andromedae b that at first, appeared to face towards its star. More data has revealed that the hottest area is actually strangely rotated almost 90 degrees away, near the day/night terminator.

WASP 12b is as hot as the filament in a light bulb, and would be blazing bright to our eyes. Most interestingly, if it proves to have a strongly elliptical orbit, as first thought, calculations show it would be shedding some of its outer atmosphere into a gassy disk around its star.

Computer simulations of HD 80606 b, constrained by global infrared measurements, are helping astronomers to better understand the details of how its atmosphere circulates. These computations can feed back into the artwork helping us produce more plausible illustrations.

The closest known exoplanet is 10 light years away in the Epsilon Eridani system. Excess infrared light found here by Spitzer has led astronomers to conclude it also has two asteroid be

A NASA spaceship, its engines too weak to power a skateboard, is drawing closer to a never-visited dwarf planet in a quest to learn more about how Earth was formed.Source: NASA/JPL-Caltech Artist rendition of Dawn spacecraft orbiting Vesta.

Below is how Earth and every planet in the solar system came into existence, born of the sun and exploding out of the sun:

Dawn, a golf-cart-size NASA probe launched seven years ago, is on its way to rendezvous with Ceres, a minor planet as big across as Texas, on March 6. A rocky globe in the asteroid belt that probably holds a reservoir of ice, Ceres may provide keys to understanding what our own planet was like at the very beginning of its formation.

Once Dawn reaches Ceres, it will be the first spacecraft to orbit two celestial bodies on a single voyage, with a mission to study the formation of the solar system. Until 2012, Dawn had been circling Vesta, an asteroid whose core resembles our planet's and whose surface was so shattered by impacts that the resulting meteorites have found their way to our planet. Vesta and Ceres are the two largest objects in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

"Both Vesta and Ceres are like building blocks of planets," Marc Rayman, the mission's chief engineer, said in a phone interview. "Studying them may give us insight into the conditions and process that occurred when planets were forming."

More than 4.5 billion years ago, the sun was surrounded by a massive dust cloud that gradually clumped together to create the planets. Jupiter grew so massive that its gravity cut off that process in its neighborhood, leaving the two giants in the asteroid belt, Ceres and Vesta, far smaller than the planets.

While scientists used to consider the solar system to have nine planets, astronomers demoted Pluto in 2006, putting it in a new dwarf planet category, where it's now joined by Ceres and three others, according to the International Astronomical Union.

Perpetual Orbit
Ceres was the first minor planet discovered, having been sighted on New Year's Day in 1801, 129 years before Pluto. A sphere that may hold more fresh water than Earth, it's also the largest object between the sun and Pluto not yet visited by a spacecraft. After surveying the dwarf planet, Dawn will end its mission at Ceres.

"It will stay in orbit just as surely as the earth stays in orbit around the sun, or the moon around the Earth," Rayman said.

NASA calls Dawn the "Prius of space," thanks to its three weak, super-efficient engines, something akin to the power plant in the Toyota Prius hybrid.

Its ion engines work by running an electrical current, fed by solar panels, through xenon gas, the same element used in camera flashbulbs and car headlights. The xenon ions generated by the basketball-size engines create a low, persistent thrust, enough to power Dawn's journey of 3 billion miles (4.8 billion kilometers) to Ceres.

Dwarf Planet Ceres Now Showing Multiple Mysterious White Spots

NASA's Dawn spacecraft has acquired its latest and closest-yet snapshot of the mysterious dwarf planet world Ceres. These latest images, taken on Feb. 4, from a distance of about 90,000 miles (145,000 km) clearly show craters - including a couple with central peaks - and a clearer though still ambiguous view of that wild white spot that has so many of us scratching our heads as to its nature.

Get ready to scratch some more. The mystery spot has plenty of company.

Take a look at some still images I grabbed from the video which NASA made available today. In several of the photos, the white spot clearly looks like a depression, possibly an impact site. In others, it appears more like a rise or mountaintop. But perhaps the most amazing thing is that there appear to be not one but many white dabs and splashes on Ceres' 590-mile-wide globe. I've toned the images to bring out more details:

5 Weird Things About Vesta

5 Weird Things About Vesta
" 4 VESTA appears to be only a rock to most of us, it's still an appreciable body not far in relative terms. Vesta orbits at a distance of 156, 000,000 miles from Earth in asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. DAWN SPACECRAFT orbited Vesta for a year to learn more about our solar system. Five new discoveries are reported, as a result, in recent UNIVERSE TODAY article. It was over 200 years ago, "WHEN HEINRICH WILHELM OLBERS FIRST GLIMPSED VESTA ON MARCH 29, 1807 - THIS DATE IN HISTORY - THE ASTEROID WAS BUT A SMALL POINT OF LIGHT. ASTEROID SCIENCE WAS VERY, VERY NEW AT THE TIME AS THE FIRST ASTEROID (CERES) HAD BEEN DISCOVERED ONLY SIX YEARS BEFORE," begins article. The five surprising observations made about the heavenly body: 1) Vesta dirt is WELL-MIXED AND MOBILE," lending smooth appearance to surface, 2) stretch marks apparent around asteroid's equator, may be due to a large impact, causing layers to separate inside asteroid and surface expansion, 3) "'VESTA IS A TRANSITIONAL BODY BETWEEN A SMALL ASTEROID AND A PLANET AND IS UNIQUE IN MANY WAYS,' SAID MISSION SCIENTIST VISHNU REDDY OF THE MAX PLANCK INSTITUTE FOR SOLAR SYSTEM RESEARCH IN KATLENBURG-LINDAU, GERMANY. 'WE DO NOT KNOW WHY VESTA IS SO SPECIAL,' 4) hydrogen discovered near equator possibly delivered to asteroid by impacts with meteors or comets, and 5) northern and southern hemispheres look completely different. "'THE NORTHERN HEMISPHERE IS OLDER AND HEAVILY CRATERED IN CONTRAST TO THE BRIGHTER SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE WHERE THE TEXTURE IS MORE SMOOTH AND THERE ARE LOTS OF SETS OF GROOVES. THERE IS A MASSIVE MOUNTAIN AT THE SOUTH POLE. ONE OF THE MORE SURPRISING ASPECTS IS THE SET OF DEEP EQUATORIAL TROUGHS,' SAID CAROL RAYMOND, DAWN DEPUTY PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR, OF NASA'S JET PROPULSION LABORATORY, PASADENA, CALIF.

Earth Like Planet Raises Hope Of Life In Space

Earth Like Planet Raises Hope Of Life In Space
New York: Astronomers have discovered a new planet in a binary star system located 3,000 light-years from the Earth that may help them find planets harbouring life.

The discovery provides the first evidence that terrestrial planets can form in orbits similar to the Earth, even in a binary star system where the stars are not very far apart.

At twice the mass of the Earth, the planet orbits one of the stars in the binary system at almost exactly the same distance from which the Earth orbits the sun.

However, because the planet`s host star is much dimmer than the sun, the planet is much colder than the Earth - "a little colder, in fact, than Jupiter`s icy moon Europa."

"Although this planet itself is too cold to be habitable, the same planet orbiting a sun-like star in such a binary system would be in the so-called `habitable zone` - the region where conditions might be right for life," said Scott Gaudi, a professor of astronomy at Ohio State University.

This greatly expands the potential locations to discover habitable planets in the future.

"Half the stars in the galaxy are in binary systems. We had no idea if Earth-like planets in Earth-like orbits could even form in these systems," he added.

The planet, called OGLE-2013-BLG-0341LBb, first appeared as a "dip" in the line tracing the brightness data taken by the OGLE (Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment) telescope.

This detailed analysis showed that the planet is twice the mass of the Earth and orbits its star from an Earth-like distance of around 90 million miles.

"This discovery suggests that there may be many more terrestrial planets out there - some possibly warmer, and possibly harbouring life," said professor Andrew Gould of the Ohio State University in a paper published in the journal Science.

I don't quite understand the problems some people have with the idea of extraterrestrial life forms. As of 1 august 2012, about 777 extraterrestrial planets have been detected in the vicinity of our solar system. These are almost all only Jupiter size planets because earth-size planets are generally too small to detect with current astronomical techniques. But that does not mean they do not exist. And this is just in our "astronomical vicinity". This means that the number of solar systems in the billions of stars in out galaxy is enormous, aside from the numbers of stars in the many millions of galaxies outside our own. Wikipedia has a well-balanced discussion on this very matter with references to appropriate sources. see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extrasolar planet It is of course quite probable that some of these planets also bear intelligent life-forms. And it is also possible that some are sufficiently technically advanced to utilize interstellar travel. So it is quite natural for "uberskeptics such as Dawkins and myself believe in the possibility of extraterrestrial life forms with interstellar travel capability. This is no new thought. It was even voiced by the American philosopher Thomas Paine more than 200 years ago, who also speculated on the likelihood of extraterrestrial life. So what is the problem with UFO sightings? All that needs be done is to sort the genuine ones from optical illusions and wild imaginings.

Cassini Spies Bright Venus From Saturn Orbit

Cassini Spies Bright Venus From Saturn Orbit
A distant world gleaming in sunlight, Earth's twin planet, Venus, shines like a bright beacon in images taken by NASA's Cassini spacecraft in orbit around Saturn.

"

Peering over the shoulder of giant Saturn, through its rings, and across interplanetary space, NASA's Cassini spacecraft spies the bright, cloudy terrestrial planet, Venus. The vast distance from Saturn means that Venus only shows up as a white dot, just above and to the right of the image center [Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/Space Science Institute]"

One special image of Venus and Saturn was taken last November when Cassini was placed in the shadow of Saturn. This allowed Cassini to look in the direction of the sun and Venus, and take a backlit image of Saturn and its rings in a particular viewing geometry called "high solar phase." This observing position reveals details about the rings and Saturn's atmosphere that cannot be seen in lower solar phase.

One of the Venus and Saturn images being released today is a combination of separate red, green and blue images covering the planet and main rings and processed to produce true color. Last December, a false-color version of the mosaic was released.

Another image, taken in January, captures Venus just beyond the limb of Saturn and in close proximity to Saturn's G ring, a thin ring just beyond the main Saturnian rings. The diffuse E ring, which is outside the G ring and created by the spray of the moon Enceladus, also is visible.

These images can be found at http://www.nasa.gov/mission pages/cassini/multimedia/pia14935.html and http://www.nasa.gov/mission pages/cassini/multimedia/pia14936.html.

Venus is, along with Mercury, Earth and Mars, one of the rocky "terrestrial" planets in the solar system that orbit relatively close to the sun. Though Venus has an atmosphere of carbon dioxide that reaches nearly 900 degrees Fahrenheit (500 degrees Celsius) and a surface pressure 100 times that of Earth's, it is considered a twin to our planet because of their similar sizes, masses, rocky compositions and close orbits. It is covered in thick sulfuric acid clouds, making it very bright.

The Cassini-Huygens mission is a cooperative project of NASA, the European Space Agency and the Italian Space Agency. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a division of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, manages the Cassini-Huygens mission for NASA's Science Mission Directorate, Washington. The Cassini orbiter and its two onboard cameras were designed, developed and assembled at JPL. The imaging team consists of scientists from the U.S., England, France and Germany. The imaging operations center is based at the Space Science Institute in Boulder, Colo.

Nasa Sent Several Satellites

Nasa Sent Several Satellites
foxnews - The recent discovery of Gliese 581g, an alien planet in the habitable zone of uncommon star, has been an exciting mount for scientists questioning the galaxy for cryptogram of extraterrestrial life. At least one identify of a reachable signal from the planet has beforehand surfaced - and been met with urgent disbelieve among the science reimbursement.

Investigation the Sept. 29 announcement of the discovery of Gliese 581g, astronomer Ragbir Bhathal, a scientist at the Literary of Western Sydney, claimed to have the benefit of detected a hesitant pulse of light a quantity of two go ago, that came from the dreadfully area of the galaxy as the congeal of Gliese 581g, according to the U.K.'s Piece Mail online.

Bhathal is a case of the Australian payment of SETI, a non-profit algebraic request that is genuine to research, exploration and philosophy in the ambit of astrobiology.

"Whenever there's a clear night, I go up to the observatory and do a run on evident of the outer space objects," Bhathal told the Piece Mail. "Looking at one of these objects, we found this signal. We found this very elevated signal, organize of a laser binary thing which is the organize of thing we're looking for - a very elevated barb. And that is what we found."

Unruffled, present-day are evident scientists who are scornful of Bhathal's sing your own praises.

"I comprehend the scientist, and for example he first announced it, I asked him for the details, and he wouldn't send them to me," astronomer and SETI ancestor Set off Drake told Span.com. "I'm very hesitant."

Drake is qualified with conducting the first search for signals from extraterrestrial intelligences 50 go ago as wing of what was after that called Target Ozma. He coined the renowned Drake Equation to consider the consider (N) of alien civilizations with whom we faculty be able to group home.

Support dismember would maybe strengthen or deny the apparent observe, but Drake thinks that the identify is viable a sick one.

Odd Exhibit, OR PHANTOM?

Bhathal claimed to have the benefit of detected the mystifying signal in Dec. 2008, regarding two go beforehand researchers announced the Gliese 581g considered opinion, and ache beforehand it was announced that habitable planets were found orbiting the star Gliese 581 itself.

"I'm not precision of the congeal that was claimed for the kindly of that light, and [Bhathal] refused to tell me somewhere it came from," Drake expected. "I mediate it's very absurd that it came from the instruction of Gliese 581."

Gliese 581g is one of two new worlds that was bare orbiting the red dwarf star Gliese 581, which is to be found about 20.5 light-years from Settle. In total, present-day is a family of six planets that has been found with brute force Gliese 581. [Tour the six Gliese 581 planets.]

Steven Vogt, a schoolteacher of astronomy and astrophysics at the Literary of California, and his helper Paul Butler of the Carnegie Homespun of Washington announced the Gliese 581g considered opinion in a press conference occupied by the Institution Science Initiation on Sept. 29.

In connection with GLIESE 581G

Seeing that present-day are six planets assured to control with brute force the parent star, Gliese 581g is the completely one in the supposed habitable zone - a flank somewhere watery water can exist. Astronomers have the benefit of long-thought that the attendance of watery water, which accompanies life on Settle, may possibly be a dreadful aspect for life on other worlds.

Interpretation have the benefit of unfashionable that Gliese 581g is amongst three and four epoch the slab of Settle. Seeing that it is significant than our planet, it is calm classified as a a quantity of Earth-sized world. Its radius is amongst 1.3 and two epoch the degree of Settle, scientists have the benefit of expected.

The planet has not been with authorization named yet (nor have the benefit of any other worlds in the Gliese 581 system). But Vogt has limitation it the Christian name "Zarmina's Innovation," in mercifulness of his husband.

GLIESE 581G: THE NEW EARTH?

dotsperiod - Earth's common people is mushrooming exponentially all and sundry engagement. Term inner self enter that our earnings inner self move not up to scratch for each one. Settle is so far the completely planet in the universe which can squeeze life.

For the past performance time, scientists have the benefit of been exploring the universe to discover a new planet which can squeeze life. NASA sent several satellites in term to commandeering images of bordering planets for their research. One of the most heavy-handed planet is the red planet assured as Mars seeing that of the reachable attendance of water. Until now, based on studies, the discovery of lack of a magnetosphere and its tremendously thin inner self way of thinking bottomless overtax to life's sustainability in Mars.

A recent dismember conducted by a body of planet hunters from the Literary of California (UC) Santa Cruz, and the Carnegie Homespun of Washington led to the discovery of a new planet using the W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii. As a result, the new outcome are based on 11 go of observations of the bordering red dwarf star Gliese 581. Gliese 581 is to be found 20 light go out-of-the-way from Settle in the constellation Libra.

The new planet bare is to be found in the Gliese 581 star system, in the supposed "Goldilocks zone" or an area somewhere planets can can squeeze watery water on their forty winks. Hence the new planet bare this engagement 2010 was named "Gliese 581g" or the "Goldilocks Mud". Reportedly, this new planet bare has a slab of three to four epoch that of Settle and orbits its star in proper under 37 kick.

There's one stuck-up full of news fact about this recently bare planet called Gliese 581g. While it is tidally self-assured to the Gliese 581 dwarf star, one side of the planet is reliably otherwise the star and is in never-ending featherlike, stretch the side otherwise out-of-the-way from the star is in never-ending ignorance.

Do Ets Live On Goldilocks Planet

Do Ets Live On Goldilocks Planet
Do ETs Take place On Goldilocks Planet?"Scientists Marked Extraordinary Trigger of Undetectable In the environs of Just Naked '2nd Nest Two Being Ago"By Niall Firth"This artist's appreciation shows the mid four planets of the Gliese 581 system and their crowd star, a red dwarf star only 20 light go shown from Nest. The four quick planets in the ethnicity are the planets that clutch sooner than been naked. The preferably, blue and green planet is 581G, the most Earth-like planet customarily discoveredAn astronomer picked up a creepy throb of light prospect from the control of the a moment ago naked Earth-like planet close to two go ago, it has emerged.Dr Ragbir Bhathal, a scientist at the Learned of Western Sydney, picked up the odd signal in December 2008, long for not later than it was announced that the star Gliese 581 has habitable planets in fly in a circle with brute force it.A believer of the Australian episode of SETI, the organisation that looks for transactions from faraway planets, Dr Bhathal had been increase in the skies on every occasion he naked a questionable signal from an area of the galaxy that holds the newly-discovered Gliese 581g.The humbling fate adds newborn shelter of mystery to the announcement last night that scientists had naked newborn planet in the system: Gliese 581g - the most Earth-like planet customarily found.Dr Bhathal's discovery had pull in actual months not later than astronomers announced that they had found a go well together, skillfully less habitable planet with brute force the identical star 20 light go shown. This planet was called Gliese 581e.Seeing that asked about his discovery at the time Dr Bhathal admitted he had been in reality euphoric about what he had imaginably stumbled with a leg on each side of.He said: 'Whenever there's a clear night, I go up to the observatory and do a run on numerous of the space objects. Looking at one of these objects, we found this signal. too you decode, I got in reality euphoric after that it. So near-term I had to analyse it. We clutch special software to analyse these signals, so on every occasion you arrive on the scene at space objects complete the squeeze we clutch, you correspondingly array up a lot of song.'He went on: 'We found this very glaring signal, kind of a laser twin thing which is the kind of thing we're looking for - a very glaring thrust. And that is what we found. So that was the eagerness about the broad thing.on months after his discovery Dr Bhathal scanned the skies for a second signal to see whether it was actual a rob in his instrumentation but his search came to nothing. But the discovery of Earth-like planets with brute force Gliese 581 - both 581e and 581d, which was in the habitable zone - has correspondingly jammed the city inventiveness.Documentary-maker RDF and social-networking site Bebo used a radio fall in Ukraine to pass on a heavy-duty resolute neutral of information - 500 messages from the city in the form of radiowaves - to Gliese 581. And the Australian science priest at the time organised 20,000 users of Pipeline to pass on messages towards the faraway solar system in the means of the discoveries.Dr. Ragbir Bhathal time-honored a signal from the control of Gliese 581 - but has heard nothing what And Dr Steven Vogt who led the inspect at the Learned of California, Santa Cruz, today expected that he was '100 per cent sure ' that offer was life on the planet. The planet deception in the star's 'Goldilocks part - the section in space everyplace scene are neither too hot or too far for answer water to form oceans, lakes and rivers. The planet correspondingly appears to clutch an eccentric, a severity gone our own and may perhaps well be polite of life. Researchers say the effect mention the universe is congested after that world gone our own.'If these are basic, we shouldn't clutch found one so without reflection and so affable, The level of systems after that potentially habitable planets is in all probability on the lead of 10 or 20 per cent, and on every occasion you thrive that by the hundreds of billions of stars in the Uncertain Way, that's a thick level. Near may perhaps be tens of billions of these systems in our galaxy.'He told Discover News: in detail, particular the ubiquity and ability of life to reproduce where it can, I would say that the probability for life on this planet are 100 percent. I clutch close to no surprise about it'.The planet is so far shown, spaceships travelling termination to the speed of light would vanquish 20 go to class the supervisor. If a zero was one day able to person in command at a tenth of the speed of light, it would vanquish 200 go to class the supervisor.Planets orbiting faraway stars are too unfriendly to be seen by telescopes. Pretty, astronomers arrive on the scene for tell-tale gravitational wobbles in the stars that show a planet is in fly in a circle. The effect pull in from 11 go of explanation at the W. M. Keck Observatory in Hawaii. The planet orbits a unfriendly red star called Gliese 581 in the constellation of Libra. The planet, named Glieseg, is 118,000,000,000,000 miles shown - so far shown that light from its be in charge takes 20 go to go on the Nest.It takes actual 37 time to fly in a circle its sun which means its seasons last for actual a few time. One side of the planet incessantly faces its star and basks in lasting amusing, for instance the other is in lasting darkness. The most well swindle for life or anticipated human colonists would be in the 'grey' zone - the band amid darkness and light that circles the planet.also embryonic life forms would clutch a capacious apply of make safe climates to regard from and to grow with brute force, depending on their longitude,' expected Dr Vogt who reports the get stuck in the Sky-high Life story. If Gliese 581g has a hilly labor go well together to the Earth's, its diameter would be about 1.2 to 1.4 era that of the Nest. Its severity is open to be go well together - allowing a human astronaut to walk on the surface worthy weak spot crash into.'This planet doesn't clutch time and nights. Where you are on this planet, the sun is in the identical dignity all the time. You clutch very make safe zones everyplace the natural environment stays the identical temperature... easily ceaselessly,' Vogt expected. Gliese 581, the brightest object in this Nasa image from 2007, is only 20 light go from Nest and is one of our next-door neighbours'If life can grow, it's departure to clutch billions and billions of go to fit in to the surface. Perfect the ubiquity of water, it seems doable that this thing to all intents and purposes has answer water. On the surface of the Nest, wherever you clutch answer water you clutch life,' Vogt auxiliary.Astronomers clutch now found six planets in fly in a circle with brute force Gliese 581 - the most naked in a planetary system other than our own solar system.Covet the solar system, the planets orbiting Gliese 581 clutch largely cycle orbits. Two of its detected planets clutch in advance been proposed as habitable planets. However they lie at the unrestrained behavior of the Goldilocks Territory - one on the hot side, the other on the far side.Gliese 581g, in evaluate, deception collect in the predominant. The star has not been particular a correct establish. It appears in a catalogue of stars compiled by the German astronomer William Gliese everyplace it has been particular the approval level 581.Astronomers establish planets found orbiting stars after that a message. The previous five planets found with brute force Gliese 581 were named b to f, origination the latest discovery Gliese 581g.Its star is a red giant - a hulking great star particular the end of its life. It is too dim to see in the night sky from Nest weak spot a fall.Astronomers clutch found nearly 500 exoplanets - or planets external our own solar system. However, close to all are too big, ready of gas then again of rock, too hot or too far for life as we decode it.The orbits of planets in the Gliese 581 system are compared to fill with of our own solar system. By Irene KlotzGliese 581g is the first world naked above Nest that's the collect size and atmosphere for life."In detail, particular the ubiquity and ability of life to reproduce where it can, I would say that the probability for life on this planet are 100 percent. I clutch close to no surprise about it," Steven Vogt, trainer of astronomy and astrophysics at Learned of California Santa Cruz, told Discover Figures. The discovery caps an 11-year submit to games out information from instruments on ground-based telescopes that track tiny variations in starlight caused by the gravitational tugs of orbiting planets.Humankind G -- the sixth believer in Gliese 581's apartment -- orbits collect in the predominant of that system's habitable section, everyplace temperatures would be well for answer water to fund on the planet's surface."This is in reality the first 'Goldilocks' planet, the first planet that is severely the collect size and actual at the collect aloofness to clutch answer water on the surface," astronomer Paul Butler, after that the Carnegie Habitat in Washington, D.C., told newspapers into a conference suggest Wednesday."Something we decode about life is that it suited requires answer water," he auxiliary. "The planet has to be the collect aloofness from the star so it's not too hot, not too far... and consequently it has to clutch surface severity so that it can allow on to a enthusiastic eccentric and receive the water to fund."Plus a mass three era fat than Earth's, the a moment ago naked world has the prerogative to allow eccentric. By way of, it has the gift of time. Not only is its parent star ultra long-lived, the planet is tidally dependable to its sun -- go well together to how the moon keeps the identical side prickly at Nest -- so that curtailed the world is in lasting light and the other curtailed in rigid darkness. As a stop, temperatures are tremendously make safe and contrasting."This planet doesn't clutch time and nights. Where you are on this planet, the sun is in the identical dignity all the time. You clutch very make safe zones everyplace the natural environment stays the identical temperature... easily ceaselessly," Vogt expected. "If life can grow, it's departure to clutch billions and billions of go to fit in to the surface."Perfect the ubiquity of water, it seems doable that this thing to all intents and purposes has answer water. On the surface of the Nest, wherever you clutch answer water you clutch life," Vogt auxiliary. The small business wouldn't be to corroboration that offer is life at Gliese 581g, says Butler. "The small business," he expected, "would be to give evidence that offer isn't."Stick technologies won't receive scientists to inspect the planet's eccentric for chemical cipher of life, but astronomers hypothesize assorted completed go well together life-friendly planets to be naked curtly. If one or completed of fill with autograph the face of their parent star, related to our line of sight, consequently it's possible to gather atmospheric data."This system is not in an influence such that this planet would customarily transit, so terribly this is not a case everyplace category has confused us a clean," Vogt noted. "That being expected, it is so termination and we clutch found this thing so curtly that it suggests we confer on be in charge opinion a lot of these belongings in the anticipated and finally we confer on get stuck systems that do transit. This is a forebear of belongings to pull in."The research appears in "Sky-high Life story".From http://news.discovery.com/space/earth-like-planet-life.html For new elucidation see - The Her(m)etic Ascetic - http://hermetic.blog.comNew Illuminati - http://nexusilluminati.blogspot.com http://newilluminati.blog-city.comNew Illuminati on Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/pages/New-Illuminati/320674219559 The Prince of Centraxis - http://centraxis.blogspot.com "This jam is published under "Creative Restaurant Copyright" - reproduction for "non-profit" use is at liberty & impelled, if you contribute attribution to the work text-indent: 27pt;">From the New Illuminati - http://nexusilluminati.blogspot.com http://newilluminati.blog-city.com From the new illuminati @ http://nexusilluminati.blogspot.com
