Unavailable Description of event/sighting: Maximum one 1968 and jiffy one 1969. Prehistoric sunset, face-to-face and 3 contacts all about 18 being old were at Felicitates Collection, on the south side of Escondido. We were sitting on rocks opinion clouds, patois etc. It was silence satisfactory, but hand over were a variety of large cloud formations. As we were observing one that looked level a upside down hanged man, hand over was a boundless blast. The blatant sky turned pink twice as the clouds, as we were wondering what the heck. We saw these matter blooming in and out of the clouds.
It must of been brutally 8:30 by along with since it had absolutely darkened, and we might see these meticulous matter larger. Submit were 3 pairs of them that flew in this standard concurrent archetypal, which was challenging to picture as their flight archetypal was matching to a drawing planed by 3 go out with old who has eaten to a long way away sweetie, and is scribbling in the company of a pencil. As a result they would take, inorganic silence. Submit was continually one man (SHIP) out, that ship would fly indoors one of the pairs, they would all tidy up cronies and take their realignment. My thoughts were that they looked level Spoolies (A RUBBER CURLER FOR WOMEN'S TAKE UMBRAGE IN THE 50'S). They were X shaped. They had something that might not be seen as it moved to inflexible. It might of been blades, but they were on the top and the terminate of the X and since they moved it looked level this: X X.
The movements were to inflexible to mark out and were red. So inflexible all we might see was the line of movement. We remembered this as a want very much result, (ABILITY NOT HERE TIME) Sooner or later through this I saw a large very intelligent light, but fold the measure of Venus. It complete a warp type move, attack flag as it disappeared. We continued opinion and soon latter, it did the problem and since it came collection all the lights in the area went out? One of the guys had a muted in the gloom watch, it was 9:00 pm. They (THE 7) did a few above moves, along with they all went indoors the light and it buckled out once more.
The later day and for the later 2 weeks I kept back path of the Escondido paper and hand over was a praise, something level "plane explodes over Mira Mar, above later. Minute it was not anywhere close Mira Mar or at most minuscule it did not heavens level it, it looked above to be over S. Rancho Bernardo or Poway. This was the first of 2 sightings I had in this area. The jiffy being a golden gang on the ground, this sighting also was in the company of 3 other fly. One woman who was in the company of me all grow old. Once more the thought was for a expanded time.

Ufos Identified Free Ebook Download
Description:
Is the mystery of Unidentified Flying Objects, better known as UFOs or flying saucers," only a space-age fantasy that was fabricated twenty years ago by a sensationalist writer and sustained ever since by hoaxers and gullible segments of the public? Or has the earth really been visited hundreds of times during this period by spaceships from another world? If so, how could this remarkable fact go unrecognized for so long by the governments and leading scientists of this planet? Or is there a gigantic conspiracy, involving the governments of Communist and non-Communist countries alike, to withhold the facts from the public? Until now it has been necessary to accept one or the other of these extreme views, or else to ignore the UFO mystery entirely. Here, for the first time, are the details of a new scientific theory which holds that despite many hoaxes and misidentifications of familiar objects, there is indeed a phenomenon that can be called Unidentified Flying Object." But Philip J. Klass shows, with extensive documentation from the most reliable sources, that these legitimate UFOs have all the characteristics of freak atmospheric electrical phenomena. These atmospheric electrical freaks are created by nature under rare conditions, sometimes with an unwitting assist from man-made objects that have appeared on the scene in growing numbers during the past twenty years. Mr. Klass explains his theory in language that is easily understood by the layman. He also analyzes in detail some of the more celebrated UFO cases and the work of some of the better-known investigators in the field of UFOlogy."

U K Government Declassifies New Ufo Files
BYAGENCE FRANCE PRESSEWed, Jul 11 2012 at 7:55 PM EST
Britain on July 12 released an archive of "X-Files" detailing government UFO briefings and probes into unexplained sightings, including one above Chelseafootball club.
The 25 files released by The National Archives include "a lengthy briefing on UFO policy to then prime minister Tony Blair's office" along with a job description for the post of UFO desk officer, described as the "weirdest job inWhitehall."
Accordingto an employee of the UFO desk, which closed in 2009, the perception that it consisted of "top secret teams of specialist scientists scurrying around the country in a real life version of the X-Files" was "total fiction."
Instead, daily duties included providing briefings on the Ministry of Defence's (MoD) position on UFOs, undertaking UFO investigations, handling Freedom of Information requests (FOIs) and managing UFOlogists (UFO "experts").
Among the stranger investigations included one into a UFO sighting by a policeo fficer at Chelsea football club and another into a visit by three "men in black" to a person who reported a UFO encounter in Lincolnshire, east England.
Accordingto the files, a hotel owner in Walesonce complained to her MP after a UFO landed in a field "from which two tall silver-suited 'faceless humanoids' emerged and began "making measurements'."
Also included in the files are details of a 1995 briefing by one of the MoD's UFO intelligence officers which speculated on why aliens would visit earth.
Despite having no hard evidence for alien craft, the officer explained that any visit would most likely be motivated by military reconnaissance, scientific development or tourism.
In a briefing prepared for the MoD in 1979, a UFO intelligence officer noted that no radio tracking systems had ever picked up any alien transmissions.
The release of the documents came after an FOI request by David Clarke, author of the book 'The UFO files' and a lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University.
"These records allow us to look behind the scenes of what must have been one of the strangest jobs in Whitehall" (shorthand for Britain's civil service), saidClarke.

I Did It For The Lulz
Well now it seems as though they have decided to target the Ufological field next. All over the internet today people have been buzzing about the so called 'Operation UFO'. Here's the supposed image from this event.
The blogosphere was all a twitter about this event. Personally I don't think much will come of this, well at least not for those that are in Ufology. Hmm although as I type that I realize that maybe they will be taken in by this event. I was going to say how hard it would be to pull something off like this now that it has been all over the internet today, until I remembered that many Ufologists likely don't have a strong online presence. It's likely that they will have missed this, because I don't believe it has been picked up by the media as of yet.
That seems like an issue to me. Of course I suppose the reason that the majority of them don't have an online presence is that fact that many of them are of an older generation. That only goes to show a bigger problem that exists in Ufology, were there seems to be no young blood in this field. (To my credit I am in my mid-twenties but I'm not exactly 'in the field'). Course many of the young people that could be in this field are busy doing shenanigans like the above 'Operation UFO'. Or worse they are indoctrinated to the dreaded ETH. (Which I really don't have anything against, I just feel like other theories should be given their just due)
I think the thing to take away from all of this is that on Sunday (if Jesus doesn't return on Saturday of course) hopefully people will ignore sightings of 'a triangle of 8 yellow lights in the sky' which are supposed to be reported to wherever UFO's can be reported to. Although with the phenomena as strange and tricksterish as it can be sometimes, I wouldn't be surprised if real triangle's of 8 yellow lights were to appear. Oh well that's Fortean phenomena for you. Until next time remember this is Fortean Philosopher Tony, reminding you that I do it all for the lulz

Leadership Crisis In Ufology
THE LEADERSHIP CRISIS IN UFOLOGY
Joseph Burkes, MD Copyright 1999In the UFO/truth movement there are few leaders, mostly celebrities.
In the paper "Role of a Power Structure Analysis in Ufology" I put forward the proposition that the Et presence threatens all terrestrial power, military, economic and religious. If true then the de-facto secrecy campaign and the ridicule of UFO witnesses is the logical results of elite forces acting to maintain the status quo. I proposed the creation of a mass movement to work for disclosure. A campaign that hopefully will represent the interests of the majority of people on this planet, rather than those of elite groups primarily focused on defending hegemony by denying what appears to be an Extra-terrestrial presence. The risks of creating such movements are numerous, perhaps the most daunting is its susceptibility to co-optation by corrupt leaders. Those who would eagerly use "the power of the people" for selfish purposes.
This certainly has been the familiar pattern of the radical left and right movements of the 20th Century. Whether fascist or communist, the sad legacy of charismatic leaders has been monstrous wars and savage political purges resulting in the death of millions of innocents.
In order to minimize the damage done by corrupt leaders, such a proposed campaign will need to incorporate strong spiritual values into its program. This became even clearer to me after the draft of the "power structure analysis" was first circulated on the Internet in the Fall of 1998. I soon received a number of reponses that emphasized the spiritual issues posed by allegations of ET spacecraft visiting Earth. One letter in particular asked the question is our involvement with this issue "to serve others", or is it "to have others serve us."
As applied to the leadership crisis in ufology the absence of an ethic "to serve others" leads to a host of problems. A number of observers have complained about the back stabbing and egoism exhibited by prominent investigators. To a certain extent such attitudes are driven by the market forces in the cottage industry environment created by ufology. Here the ethic of "have others serve us" is manifest.
Those UFO experts who are compelled to work "the meat and potatoes" circuit of Expos and book signing sessions, are all struggling within a rather small marketplace. In a field rife with uncertainty, they, the "experts" must appear to the "ones who really know." Otherwise why would anyone bother to listen to them and buy their wares. Since an essential part of sales must be appearing to "stand on the cutting edge," UFO leaders must constantly come up with new and exciting information about, and solutions to, this mystery. The need to appear better than one's fellows, and to attack the competition, feeds the tendency towards shameless personal attacks.
There are however more profound sources for the egoism which cuts a destructive path across ufology. In my opinion more potent than economic competition are the psycho-social factors. Let's face it, ufology has been relegated to the fringe by the powers that be. For any self respecting professional to profess an interest in subject so marginal, is to risk loss of social standing. Very powerful emotions experienced during normal child development may come into play here.
Our susceptibility to shame starts off during childhood. During early emotional development, frustration about one's relatively helpless condition, coexists side by side with the growing need to be accepted by other children. Being "small" and not being able to do what the "big kids" do is a constant theme throughout childhood. Teasing and being excluded by older children is a harsh lesion we all must experience.
I believe that every individual must carry these concerns over into adulthood. The social sentiments of the mainstream culture are such, that to simply profess an interest in UFOs, often triggers smirking from friends and co-workers. Much is at stake psychologically. To become a leader in ufology ups the ante considerably and the risks of social ridicule are nearly certain.
In order to stand against the currents of the dominant culture that dismisses ufology as terminally kooky, an individual must surely have a strong sense of self. I believe it requires a determined and hopefully healthy ego, to openly defy conventional wisdom. This force of conviction flowing from ego, in its most extreme form, can become transformed into a sense of self righteousness. This tendency to become self-righteous, unfortunately in many ufologists, results in self-aggrandizement and egoism.
Economic sacrifice and even hardship are often the rewards of trying to "make it" as a professional ufologist. The difficult economic conditions make for frustration, anger, perhaps even bitterness in some individuals. If a ufologist can't receive payment in real money, then perhaps a salary in "ego dollars" might suffice. Real dollars are of course the preferred compensation. In the UFO field unfortunately there are few enough to go around. Thus many researchers I suspect, demand ego gratification as a substitute for financial reward. The personal attacks rampant in the field, are in my opinion the products of those who seek ego gratification at expense of others. In-fighting and the mud slinging which abound in ufology, should therefore be viewed as the logical outcome of a group of researchers who have been marginalized by a larger society. They sadly vent their frustrations on one another.
This analysis is rather preliminary, but I hope it provides a framework for a more detailed investigation of the psycho-social causes of the leadership crisis in ufology. My concerns are more than theoretical. It is my sincere hope that we can create a mass movement to work towards disclosure of the ET presence. To do so will require a great number of enlightened leaders. Individuals who are able to work together cooperatively and hopefully minimize the destructive effects of egoism. Here again their is much room for exploring the spiritual/ ethical dimension. I ask again whether we struggle to serve others, or do we attempt to compel others to serve us? It is my hope that this future crusade will be based on the high principle of altruism combined with honesty and humility. A tall order no doubt! Only time will tell whether ufology is up to the challenge.
"Truth comes in three phases. First it is ridiculed, then it is violently opposed, and then it is declared to be self-evident. "

Classic Moments In Ufology Ep5 The Kenneth Arnold Interview
Classic Moments in UFOlogy Ep#5 - The Kenneth Arnold Interview
The field of Ufology is vast. Vast in the sense that there is so much history to understand before you can truly understand where we are now. The UFO is an enigma. The current state of events is built upon all the people who come before us. The study of UFOlogy is the study of the strange, weird, and truly bizarre. It is hard for new people to Ufology to know what to believe and where to start. We must not forget history as it is the ashes in which we climb from today.
There are pivotal events that have occurred over the past 70 years of modern Ufology that need to be known. Our video series (Classic Moments In Ufology) strives to preserve and update the existing media for a new generation of Ufologists.
In this our fifth episode you will hear the legendary Kenneth Arnold interview tape. The Arnold case was arguably the first modern case of a UFO sighting. It launched the modern field of UFology we have today. To truly understand this case you must hear his first hand account of this historic event.

A Unique Ufo Hunt In Russias Lake
"SUKHOI, RUSSIA - UFO partners went to the sand of the world's secret Merge Baikal of Russia eager to see flying saucers very the lake. Dowry were about 50 people gathered as one group and set up tents on the southern periphery of the lake as periphery of idea called as "TRANS-EURASIAN UFO-SEARCH SEARCH." The UFO partners were questioning later the reports from the locals about UFOs in the area. One of the participants of the idea alleged that it was in this authority that TU-154 hydroplane crashed in 1958. News update from the locals state that UFO chased the air craft until it reached Baikal waters. UFO reports were time-honored encircling Baikal. Ufologa Aliengenas Del Rea 51 No Serian Ms Que Un Mito

REFEREED History A Enormous Hoedown Marker
ParaNet Alpha 06/20 -- Surrounded by the uproar over the Come between Outline case, the distant MJ-12 evidence, the casualty of Coral Lorenzen and the hammering of APRO, UFOlogy requirements assured good news to abide to the MUFON Chat in Lincoln this month.
Now it appears it has assured.
According to Dr. Michael Swords, the Hynek Border line for UFO Studies drive soon be publishing UFOlogy's first refereed science periodical.
OK, so its not as bracing as the latest abduction parable, or as
titillating as a John Lear system. But to those who stir serious,
industrial see of the UFO phenomenon, its a giant step valley. The
History of UFO Studies, as it drive be called, drive cleave to articles submitted by experts in by every highlight of the phenomenon, through psychology, sociology, astronomy, physics, and history. The articles drive be screened by the Journal's Dwelling of Editors, which, according to Swords, reads darling a Who's Who of UFOlogy. Identify the inn and restriction the History drive be Swords, himself a trainer of inheritance at Western Michigan Let in School and a inn supporter of CUFOS -- one of UFOdom's heaviest hitters. Just the once performance, respectively trace drive undergo promote review by a work in the exact domain, "somewhat," says Swords,
"individual who has to the point or no departed connection among UFOs." The say, or "arbiter," is free to take note of on the industrial, systematic or times of yore rightfulness of the work, and if the work satisfies the simple requests for make, those observations are in addition to published in the exact or a far-reaching task of the History. The author can later flood back the referee's observations, and so on. The answer is an happening chatter, framed in an finish, well-educated situation that most characteristic scientists would at lowest amount vicious circle eatable, if not boring believable.
This system of "peep review" has been one of the left elements
separating industrial UFOlogy from the characteristic. Fancy accused of working "pseudo-science," UFOlogists hold sought after to exploit their methods and abide them in line among the standards of other, manager established sciences. One of those standards is the refereed make.
In the further than, UFO researchers who were more willingly than rationally taught would extend their sow to the refereed journals of other disciplines, right to engender a feeling of among rudely familiar ignore -- readily accompanied by a leer. UFOlogy was, and for the most wing relaxed is, deliberate whatever thing of a inadequate cousin to Science among a income "S". Its barely "floppy" for grasp by "real" scientists, we are told.
That is initiation to whip. At the same time as the release of the Condon Have an effect in 1969 caused an exodus of news the media to the suspicious side, their ready has overshadowed a unintelligent but certain release of characteristic scientists and academicians arrived the "learner" camp -- or manager indeed, the "let's-take-an-objective-look" camp. But these
professionals hold been disillusioned at the low standards of offer UFO investigation, research, sense, and reportage. Create this among the discernible pessimistic of their peers and the lack of a appropriate flaw for their research outcome, and its joyful to see why a range of scientists loll a very low specialism in the UFO rural community. Bound to be, its rudely undoubted that put on are other conscious scholars out put on who might and would complete a sensible enter to the domain, but be there prevented fair for uneasiness of scarring their reputations.
To such assure converts, the History of UFO Studies might
give to a watershed, a new delineation of certain ground. It might fundraiser a signal to the complaining UFOlogist, maxim, "It's alright, its certain to take on in all over the place. We're younger and bolder and we're groping in the dim, but we're good darling the big boys." Swords claims to hold by time-honored auspicious responses from several academics, more willingly than self-governing among the UFO domain, who hold uncertainly setting to act as referees. In the same way, those who hold in black and white gloomily about UFOs in the further than drive be contacted to go judgement on submissions. Swords named as an exemplar Dr. Robert Baker of the School of Kentucky, who wrote a acid abjuration of the
abduction syndrome for CSICOP. "As covet as they are profit of safeguarding stuff finish and widely read," says Swords, "their submissions are
lovely." Swords did not take note of on whether this included Phil Klass;
on the other hand, seemingly he does not pitch as a scientist or well-educated.
Absolutely his further than writings hold belied an powerlessness to bear finish.
Swords hopes to publish the History quarterly, but admits that may
be romantic. "I construe its manager biological that it drive bend up being semi- annual report." Static regularly it comes out, it may good be the best thing to voters to UFOlogy for instance Hynek's release.
Its confident the best news I'VE heard this see.

Using Sound Waves To Find Life Spaceflight Anxiety And The Listeners
g STARS - Which came first, galaxies or the supermassive black holes at their center? Most cosmologists now think the two are inextricably linked, each depending on the other. And according to researchers, including famed astronomer Sir Martin J. Rees, these supermassive black holes got big, fast. By reviewing quasar data in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey, the team has calculated that many supermassive black holes had reached 1 billion times the mass of our Sun in a very short period of time. Even for the largest, most voracious black holes in the universe, that's an amazing feat. See article.
g ABODES - Conceived by scientists at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., the Neutron/Gamma ray Geologic Tomography would be able to generate three-dimensional images of fossils embedded in an outcrop of rock or beneath the soil of Mars or another planet. Tomography uses radiation or sound waves to look inside objects. NUGGET could help determine if primitive forms of life took root on Mars when the planet was awash in water eons ago. See article.
g LIFE - Volunteers in Montana have announced they currently are working to uncover what is believed to be a never-before-seen species of sauropod dinosaur, perhaps about twice as old as most dinosaur fossils found in the state. See article. For related story, see "Fossil poachers find easy pickings on federal lands".
g INTELLIGENCE - Ever enter a strange hallway or an unfamiliar street after being inside and have trouble getting your bearings? A new study suggests a way to battle the problem by changing habits early in life. See article.
g MESSAGE - Forget waiting for ET to call - the most likely place to find an alien message is in our DNA, according to an expert in Australia. See article. Note: This article is from 2004.
g COSMICUS - The return to flight mission of space shuttle Discovery - and subsequent grounding of the shuttle fleet - has spurred anxiety regarding the future of NASA's human spaceflight programs. See article.
g LEARNING - Here's a neat classroom activity: "Life on the Edge." The lesson plans examine the question, "Is there life on other planets in our solar system? No one knows, but if there is it's probably a microorganism that thrives in extreme environments. In this episode students will follow a dog sled team to a high mountain peak, make "Planets in a Bottle," and learn more about nature's extremophiles. See article.
g IMAGINING - Like stories about communicating with aliens? Scour a used bookstore for James Gunn's "The Listeners" (1972).
g AFTERMATH - Scientists should pay greater attention to discussing the social implications of discovering extraterrestrial life - even though many researchers shy away from the subject because they don't consider it "hard" science. See article.

Mysterious Waters From The Bermuda Triangle To The Devil Sea
Certain locations have become synonymous with unexplained disappearances and for intrepid sailors with a taste for the paranormal, these places can hold a spookily magnetic appeal.
So if you fancy a sailing holiday with a supernatural slant, you'll need to know where the fiction ends and the facts begin. To help you along your way we delve deep into some of the world's most mysterious waters.
Bermuda Triangle
The vast triangular area of ocean with imaginary points in Bermuda, Florida and Puerto Rico -- popularly known as the "Bermuda Triangle" -- has long been associated with mysterious disappearances, paranormal activity and even fissures in the fabric of space itself.
Interest in the region began after a group of military planes carrying 14 men inexplicably vanished somewhere off the coast of southern Florida in December 1945.
Before losing radio contact, it's claimed the flight leader was heard saying: "We are entering white water, nothing seems right."
Almost immediately afterwards, a further 13 crew-members -- dispatched as a flying search party -- themselves vanished. Neither group's remains were ever discovered and the Bermuda Triangle legend was born.
Numerous further disappearances, including a large oil tanker, a pleasure yacht and a small passenger plane were attributed to the area's paranormal forces.
A raft of books, like "The Devil's Triangle, Limbo of the Lost," and "The Riddle of the Bermuda Triangle" all contained supernatural explanations -- from UFOs to "wormholes" to technology left over from the mythical lost continent of Atlantis....

The Last Scientist Part 2
"It wasn't just one UFO that landed at noon on July 17 1955, but two. They landed three or four streets apart. One was in Bexleyheath, King Harold's Way. All the people came out of their houses. There must have been at least 170 people standing around this thing."

"
How do you talk about a man who was a giant but now, to trendy ufologists, is nothing more than a footnote? A man who stood head and shoulders above the people who destroyed him...
In UFO history this giant's hardly mentioned, while others are championed as heroes. Today the cult of celebrity means it's more important to be known...than what you are known for.
Dr. James McDonald never wanted to leave the mainstream scientific community. In fact, Dr. McDonald was counting on the scientific establishment to support the unraveling of the UFO phenomenon because he was a member.
James McDonald understood that if sloppy science were allowed to stand as explanation for UFOs, then nothing put forward as evidence by UFO researchers --save the final smoking gun proof-- would ever be looked at seriously.
Sloppy science had to be discounted right away, McDonald believed. And not with rhetoric and disinformation campaigns, but by logically refuting the science around the explanation, and examining the science, sloppy or otherwise, right along with your scientific colleagues.
McDonald had qualities other researchers did not possess. Because he was both well-respected as an authority and genuinely liked by the larger scientific community, Dr. McDonald was extremely dangerous. So stopping him was a must.
.
As time has begun to show us, McDonald's approach to research was right.
Run this inventory yourself: in the last 60 years have you witnessed any real change in the attitude of science on UFOs? Isn't it still true that a talking head science expert on TV can throw out the most outlandish explanation for any facet of the UFO phenom and it's never, ever challenged?
The other tragedy of the inquisition mounted against McDonald back in the day --no matter what you and I might imagine UFOs will ultimately turn out to be-- is that the debunkers, along with the government, have effectively halted pure science research projects on this important reality.
By destroying or marginalizing anyone and any evidence pointing to the reality of this phenomenon, not only were careers ruined, but pure science was ended and the debate controlled.
Seventy-odd years later, we're still debating what these things in the sky and landing in our fields are, yet the evidence for their existence continues, with global reporting from citizens of every nation.

1980 Cash Landrum Encounter
A drive through the Piney Woods of Texas at night is a lonely, somewhat spooky one to begin with, but on this particular night, a routine drive turned into a life changing event for these three people. Fifty-one year old Betty Cash was driving through the woods traveling from New Caney to Dayton on Farm to Market road 1485. Riding with her was her friend, Vickie Landrum, fifty-seven years old, and Vickie's seven year old grandson, Colby. They were looking for an open Bingo game, but found all of them closed down for the Holiday season. They stopped for a meal at a restaurant, and then continued their journey.
Soon, the three began to see a light in the distance, and in a few short minutes this light became a glowing object, slowly crossing the tops of the tall pine trees. The area that they were in was densely occupied by pine and oak trees, surrounded by occasional swamps and small lakes. As they proceeded along their way, their initial thought was that the object was an airplane or helicopter from one of the airfields not too distant from their location. Suddenly, ahead of them loomed an immense diamond-shaped craft, which was hovering over the road ahead of them! At regular, fast intervals, the object would shoot down a stream of reddish-orange flames. Vickie would later describe it as being "like a diamond of fire". Being a devout Christian, she had had never believed in UFOs or extraterrestrials, and at this moment, she believed that she was witnessing the end of the world.
They could also hear a constant beeping sound as the strange craft spit out its fiery downspout. Frightened, Betty came to a quick stop to keep from running under the craft. The car's heater had been running to kill the frosty air of the night, but now the inside of her vehicle was so hot she had to turn off her heater, and leave the car, along with Vickie and Colby. Now outside of the vehicle, they could hear a steady roaring sound coming from the frightening sight ahead of them. Young Colby became so afraid that his grandmother took him back into the car to comfort him. Betty stayed outside. In some strange way, she was fascinated with the almost unbelievable vision before her.
As she stood watching the craft, suddenly the sky was full of helicopters. Betty said, "They seemed to rush in from all directions... it seemed like they were trying to encircle the thing." She assumed that they were from Tomball Airfield, northwest of Houston, or Ellington Air Force Base, south of Houston. The eerie object now began to lift into the air, and proceed to the southwest, with helicopters in pursuit. As Betty returned to the car, the door handle was so hot she could hardly open the front door. Her hand was burned getting inside. She immediately turned on her air conditioner to cool off the inside of the vehicle. After the object had left the area, they restarted their vehicle, hoping to get home and never see the craft again. But after several miles of dark highway, they left the Farm to Market road in favor of the freeway. Ahead in the distance, they could again see the object with its bright lights illuminating the helicopters which were still trying to encircle it.
At this vantage point, the two ladies could actually count the number of copters in the air, 23. Some of them they identified as the double rotor CH-47 Chinook; the others were the faster, single engine rotor type, which they thought were Bell-Huey. After a fast trip home, all three of the witnesses became extremely sick within the next few hours. Betty's head and neck were blistered, and soon her eyes were swollen shut. She was also terribly nauseated. By the next morning, she was almost in a coma. Vickie and Colby suffered very similar symptoms, yet not as severe as Betty's. After a couple of miserable days being cared for at Vickie's home, Betty checked into a hospital where she was treated as a burn victim, remaining for 15 days. Her hair began to fall out, and her eyes swelled so badly, she could not see for about a week.
Colby had problems with his eyes, and Vickie was losing her hair also. In addition, her scalp was numb and painful. All three of the victims were treated for radiation poisoning, and their condition was listed by doctors as life-threatening. Before long, skin sores developed, weight loss began, and skin cancer was diagnosed.
As to the origin of the helicopters, local air bases were questioned, but would not admit to sending any helicopters out that night. The only public statement made by military officials came from Fort Hood press officer Major Tony Geishauser. In an interview with the Corpus Christi Caller newspaper, he stated that no Fort Hood aircraft were in the Houston area that night. "I don't know any other place around here that would have that number of helicopters," he said. "I don't know what it could be... unless there's a super secret thing going on and I wouldn't necessarily know about it." The black top road was badly damaged by the emissions from the craft that night, but it was very quickly repaired. Investigators were at a loss to explain the events of that night, except to say that Betty, Vickie, and Colby had encountered a craft of undetermined origin, or possibly an experimental government craft. The three unwilling participants in this event sued the U.S. Government for medical damages, but during a congressional hearing, the Department of the Army Inspector General denied any military involvement in the case, and disallowed any compensation for the three unwilling participants in the Piney Woods affair.
There would be several other witnesses to the strange craft / and or helicopters of that night. Among them were: An off duty Dayton, Texas policeman and his wife who were driving home from Cleveland the same night and saw a large number of CH-47s. A Crosby, Texas man who was directly under the flight path, reported seeing a large number of heavy military helicopters flying overhead. A Dayton, Texas, oilfield worker Jerry McDonald saw a large UFO fly directly overhead while he was in his back garden. He thought it might be a blimp at first, but soon knew it was something more sinister. "It was kind of diamond shaped and had two twin torches that were shooting brilliant blue flames out the back", he said. He saw that it had two bright lights on it and a red light in the center.
In a freaky circumstance of luck, corroboration of the unknown object of that night would come in 1981. In April, a CH-47 flew into Dayton for the purpose of a public showing. This allowed local residents to view the machine, both inside and out. Colby spotted the helicopter as it was flying into town, and became very upset. Vickie took him to the landing site, hopefully to allay his fears. As they reached the Chinook, a long line of locals had already formed, waiting to see the giant machine. When their turn finally came, Vickie and Colby entered the helicopter.Accompanied by another visitor in addition to Colby, Vickie began to recount her experience in the Piney Woods. Vickie and the other unnamed witness both claimed that the pilot said he had been in the air the night of the traumatic sighting. He was sent to check on a UFO that was in trouble near Huffman! Vickie began to discuss her injuries due to the burns and radiation poisoning. Upon hearing her confession, the pilot quickly clammed up, and moved them out of the craft. The pilot was later found by the UFO group VISIT. He would only admit that he knew of the Cash/Landrum case, but refused to admit that he had been in the area the night of the sighting. (B J Booth)
OTHER WITNESSES There were also others who witnessed the incident near Huffman, Texas. An off duty Dayton policeman and his wife were driving home from Cleveland through the Huffman area the same night. They observed a large number of double rotor Being CH-47 Chinooks, a special kind of the craft used by the Army and the Marines. A man living in Crosby, directly under the flight path, also reported seeing a large number of heavy military helicopters flying overhead. And Oilfield laborer Jerry McDonald was in his back garden in Dayton when he witnessed a large UFO flying over his head. At first he thought it was the goodyear airship, but quickly realized it was something else. "It was kind of diamond shaped and had two twin torches that were shooting brilliant blue flames out the back", he said. As it passed about 45 meters above him he saw that it had two bright lights on it and a red light in the center. But the US army's Fort Hood press officer, Major Tony Geishauser, told the Corpus Christi Caller that no Fort Hood aircraft were in the Houston area that night. "I don't know any other place around here that would have that number of helicopters," he said. "I don't know what it could be.... unless there's a super secret thing going on and I wouldn't necessarily know about it." All other bases in Texas and Louisiana denied they were responsible for the helicopters seen at the incident. (UFO.Whipnet.org)

INJURIES CAUSED BY UFO CLAIM WOMAN'S LIFE
Betty Cash, one of three people injured in a UFO close encounter near Huffman, Texas, on December 29, 1980, died on the 18th anniversary of the event, in Birmingham, Alabama. She had been in poor health ever since the encounter. At the time of the event, Mrs. Cash operated her own businesses near Dayton, Texas. Betty Cash, along with Vickie Landrum and grandson Colby Landrum, encountered a huge UFO accompanied by military helicopters on a dark road in the east Texas Piney Woods. They were exposed to radiation from the object, which caused extreme medical problems such as burns, eye damage, hair loss, diarrhea, and vomiting. Although they and others observed a large number of military helicopters along with the UFO, the U.S. Government refused to acknowledge the event or assist them in any way. After the encounter, Betty Cash was hospitalized and treated for burns and the other maladies. The extent of the injuries was so great, she was forced to close her businesses and never worked again. He life became a series of hospital stays, many of them in intensive care. Eventually, she developed cancer, which was successfully treated. In November 1998, Mrs. Cash suffered a stroke. On December 29, during her recovery, an unusual turn of events claimed her life. Mrs. Cash was a hero in the fight against government UFO cover-ups and brought hope to other victims of UFO incidents. She was devoted to family and friends and never allowed her illness to prevent her from helping others to cope with the trauma of UFO close encounters. Betty Cash will be missed... but never forgotten.
