NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter has found a very dynamic Mars surface.
ScienceDaily - Images from NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter show sand dunes and ripples moving across the surface of Mars at dozens of locations and shifting up to several yards. These observations reveal the planet's sandy surface is more dynamic than previously thought.
"Mars either has more gusts of wind than we knew about before, or the winds are capable of transporting more sand," said Nathan Bridges, planetary scientist at the Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md., and lead author of a paper on the finding published online in the journal Geology. "We used to think of the sand on Mars as relatively immobile, so these new observations are changing our whole perspective."
While red dust is known to swirl all around Mars in storms and dust devils, the planet's dark sand grains are larger and harder to move. Less than a decade ago, scientists thought the dunes and ripples on Mars either did not budge or moved too slowly for detection.
MRO was launched in 2005. Initial images from the spacecraft's High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera documented only a few cases of shifting sand dunes and ripples, collectively called bedforms. Now, after years of monitoring the Martian surface, the spacecraft has documented movements of a few yards (or meters) per year in dozens of locations across the planet.

"Voyager 1 entered that last region, which NASA has referred to as a "magnetic highway," in AUGUST OF LAST YEAR. In this part of space, the Sun's magnetic field is intersecting with magnetic fields originating in interstellar space. This causes charged particles from the Sun to speed up and head out of our solar system, while charged particles from interstellar space speed up to zoom into our solar system. Some of what NASA has learned about the region so far has been published in this week's edition of Science."
It's not clear yet when Voyager 1 will leave the solar system - scientists won't know for sure until it actually gets there. That could be anywhere from a few months to a few years away. It's sister craft, Voyager 2, is also expected to enter interstellar space, but that will be some time later. Both probes have enough power to last to 2020, so we should learn quite a bit about interstellar space before they fall silent."

It's pretty unlikely that anyone will actually find either of the Voyager probes to play the record. But to Carl Sagan, that was part of the magic of the two records."

A respected physicist and author, John Brandenberg, has claimed that intelligent life once flourished on Mars - but was annihilated by a nuclear attack so intense it left the planet cold and lifeless.
The author has urged that a human mission to the planet be mounted immediately - in case we are in danger from the attackers who 'killed' Mars.
Brandenberg said that many of the nuclear isotopes in Mars's atmosphere 'resemble those from hydrogen bombs on Earth' and hypotheses in a new book, 'Death on Mars', that a humanoid race once lived there but was wiped out.
'This Martian civilization apparently perished due to a planet-wide catastrophe of unknown origin,' he writes, citing craters visible on the surface near the Curiosity Rover. 'Was it a massive nuclear attack?'
Many physicists believe that an event such as an asteroid strike may have robbed Mars of its magnetic field, and thus its atmosphere, in the distant past - but Brandenberg believes that the planet may have been killed by another civilisation or even a rogue artificial intelligence.
He also warns that we could be next.
Brandenberg claims that craters in the planet's surface could be evidence of a long-past nuclear war.
'The discovery of dead civilization on Mars, whose end was apparently catastrophic and due to unknown causes, reinforces our understanding that the cosmos can be a dangerous place and requires a vigorous response from the human race, to reduce the probability that we will perish the same way.
'The most likely cause of the Cydonian demise, the large asteroid impact from the Lyot impact basin, causing collapse of a Mars greenhouse system, is a hazard of the cosmos that we were aware of.
'However, the second possible catastrophe, a pair of large and anomalous nuclear events, centered apparently near Cydonia and also near Galaxias, and leaving no craters, is much more difficult to understand. For this reason we must maximize our knowledge of what transpired on Mars, and this requires an international human mission.'
Nigel Watson, author of the Haynes UFO Investigations Manual, says, 'John Brandenberg is not the first person to suggest that Mars was 'murdered' by nuclear explosions. Writers who have promoted the idea that ancient astronauts visited and lived on the Earth thousands of years ago, claim that sacred texts like the Bible recount stories of nuclear explosions.

CLIMATE CHANGE:"
Retired TV weatherman John Coleman, who studied and reported the weather for decades, and co-founded The Weather Channel, shared his assertion that man-made climate change is no longer scientifically credible. He recently presented this view at a UCLA forum on climate change, and in an open letter attacking the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which got picked up by international media (see related article). The issue became politicized after Al Gore helped promote the idea of scientist Dr. Roger Revelle that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas causing climate change.
Climate change is natural and constantly occurring and is not affected by the actions of mankind, Coleman stated. We've had a half dozen dramatic climate shifts between ice ages and interglacial periods. Just 15,000 years ago there was a huge ice sheet covering parts of North America which was naturally caused, and then it was warmed up by natural causes and began melting, he noted, adding that the Earth is always varied in its climate. While carbon dioxide has increased in the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels, it's still less than of 1% of the total atmospheric carbon dioxide, and this increase causes insignificant warming if any, he commented. The Earth is actually 20% greener than it was, and there's been no scientific validation that the increase in CO2 is bringing about a climate crisis, he added.

In the latter half of Tuesday's show, Travis Walton recounted the details of what happened November 5, 1975 when he and a group of loggers in the mountains of Arizona observed a strange, bright light in the sky. He left his companions and the safety of his truck to take a closer look. When he failed to reappear, authorities mounted a massive manhunt in search of him. He showed up five days later with a tale of being taken aboard an alien craft. Walton now believes that rather than being abducted by the aliens, they were actually trying to heal him after he'd been struck by a powerful beam of light emitted by their craft.
He described the beings as small creatures with very large eyes, which suggests to him that they come from a place with low light conditions. Their general appearance matches what people now refer to as the "greys," though Walton believes there are several different alien species who happen to be similar in appearance. Their craft, he recalled, was sterile-looking and devoid of features. While Walton felt a great amount of fear during his encounters, he didn't conclude that the beings were malicious. "With advanced technology comes a higher level of ethical and moral development," he said, adding that he recently spoke to a group in Hollywood cautioning them about always portraying aliens as monsters. Walton will be hosting the Skyfire Summit UFO Conference in early November.
